I purchase this on vinyl back in the early eighties. As mainly a guitar player, every time I get deeply into this album, I become a better musician all around.

I love this passage but I have to admit I have often wondered if it isn't a bit too polished, the melody too fully formed, to be entirely spontaneous. A close listen to the many bootleg concerts floating around reveals Jarrett did, and does, develop and rework melodic and harmonic elements during tours, subconsciously or deliberately. Still I agree as a pure piece of music it is better than anything on the Koln Concert, which is still wonderful.

Hi Salvo Jazz. After verification, this music is from the Bregenz concert (28/05/1981), not from the Munich concert. Same thing for your 3 other parts.

I wonder if Keith respects Kanye West... both have interesting gospel elements in their music. They are artists of very different genres, but their similar success of incorporating gospel sounds into their respective music is impressive.

It is breathtaking to hear anyone even remotely intimate Kanye & Keith Jarrett are in the same galaxies. It’s like comparing a backyard shed to The Empire State Building. Just……WHAT?!?!?!?
