In my neck of the woods, upstate NY, the closest thing we have to a jobs center is operated like so many of the public-private grifts that we have. There is a "non-profit" middle man that actually receives 99% of its funding through the government but maintains the veneer of a independence even though everyone working for it is in complete lockstep with the tenets of the administrative state.

The Job Centre is the pleace you need yo go to get unemployment benefits. You are required to spend 8 hours a day every day looking for a job and are required to provide evidence, lest you lose your unemployment benefits ( known as "the dole" ).

And you're absolutely right, it's the most ridiculous things they expect you to do. Never has it taken me longer than 2 months to find a job when I barely try let alone hammering it as much as they expect you to...... Of course there are ways around actually doing it. And you'll find addicts and people who have never worked are definitely not subject to the same standards as people actually willing to work. (A generalisation but you get the point) .

OK, Charlie, Fulton's Foods was a Barnsley based company founded by Jack Fulton in 1960, by 1974 the company started selling frozen food to complement their fresh and pre-packaged groceries, the founder died in 2015. I dont agree with a lot of what the IDF have done to Palestine, however it looks like this woman is giving a pass to Hamas for their atrocities of October 7th.

Two good things to come out of Keighley are Tim Taylors Landlord, multi award winning beer, one of the best pints ever and The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway who do use steam trains, so that may have accounted for the coal smell.

Agreed. She was on point. You can't excuse Hamas terrorist attacks but the problem sits on both sides. Israel is antagonistic and Hamas are terrorists.

Charlie, Keighley is in West Yorkshire, as is Bradford. I used to live their in my teens. I bought my first property for £3k in the late 80's. It was a dump then, not really changed

Its much closer to Skipton than say Bradford/Leeds/Wakefield/Halifax/Brihghouse so you can see why people think its North Yorkshire

@@CBTW420VOL2 Yeah, I always think Aire Valley as more North Yorkshire as I do a lot of hiking and its all on top of each other. also Keighley has a North Yorkshire phone code 01535, Bradford is 01274, leeds is 01332.

4:30 There is 5 mile heritage railway from Keighley to Oxenhope. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway so you may have smelt coal from a coal powered steam train. I would recommend visiting Haworth too while you're in this area. You can take a steam train there. It is home to the Bronte's and The Railway Children was filmed along that line.

Back in the old days when you spoke to an older person like this old woman, you would think "Yeah she gonna be wise and intelligent", then she begins to talk and what you thought was completely wrong.
