Where did you set your Kef sub setting to achieve optimal blending if you don’t mind me asking? I have a pair of original LS50s that I run with a Kef R400b sub. My Amp is a Peachtree 300Nova. So on the R400b my setting crossover at 45Hz & about 10am on the volume dial. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Im going to be pairing my meta's with a svs 3000 micro hopefully it can blend well with these speakers

Would be really appreciated if you could let me know how you are getting on with that set up. I am in the process of choosing between the SVS 3000 Micro and REL T7X

@@jdmc1vic just sent the 3000 micro back, couldn't get on with it unfortunately. Sounded great with movies but for music it was a bit boomy, the app is very useful but im unable to use it properly as im not using an AV receiver that can automatically tune the speakers to match the sub, i expect the the REL would sound better for music.

I didn't like the LS50 meta. Felt I had to drive them hard to get some excitement out of them. Currently using Cambridge CXA81. Replaced them with Wharfdale 4.4 evo. Feel its a much better pairing. Don't have to drive the speakers at all to get some nice atmosphere out of them 🙌

Interesting since what hifi recommends CXA 81 to pair with metas.

They are 'ok' with smallish amps, but they will happily eat all the power you feed them.

Have you actually heard these speakers? This guy just said they dont need that much power to sound good. I have used an Audiolab 6000A to great affect with the ls50's, granted bigger amplifiers will always better, im currently using a Hegel H120 and in my opinion its a perfect match, i dont think it can get much better than this.

@@hclandscapes I really have actually heard them. I own a pair:) Your Hegel is by no means a smallish amp. If you prefer the power of the Hegel over the Audiolab, what's your point actually?

that background "music" (if you can call it that) is very annoying.

They don’t sound any different to the ls50s, you have to use a sub as they have no bass. And when they bottom out ahhhhh. Plus get yourself a very good amp, you will need it.

They are improved over the originals, bass is impressive for a 'small' speaker. If your making these speakers bottom out then your obviously driving them far to hard and need to be realistic with your expectations from a Bookshelf speaker.

Well, they do sound different from the original version and everyone that have tested these side by side will hear that. I think that almost every bookshelf speaker should pair with good sub(s) if you want great audio experience. I was still surprised by the bass from the LS50 meta since it's really fast and punchy. Also, you don't need a very good amp to make them sound great. I did run them with high end system and then more entry level amp like Cambridge Audio AXR100 ($500) and it sounded great. Of course, you can get more out of the speakers when you spend more money but that's not needed to make them sound/run good.

I have three different LS50 setups at my home. Two original and one Meta. The Metas are a little more refined but they all sound similar. I actually prefer the old version in one of my setups. All boils down to equipment pairing, room setup, and preferences.

@@CaptainCrunch823 People that are sensitive to high-frequency sounds will spot the difference easier since the original LS50 sounds (at least to me) harsh and too bright. Meta is more natural sounding and softer. Measurements shows also some other differences.
