    KEF KC62 for me. Musicality and ability to disappear are most important for me. KEF has the lowest SPL output but I tend to run my subwoofer on the low setting anyway. Nice video guys. Great job!

    Excellent video. Really useful and interesting comparison. I have 2 Rel T9I subs which I use to augment my Kef Ref 5 floorstanders. I’ve been thinking of placing a 3rd sub at the rear of the room. I was leaning toward the Kef. Your video has pushed me more towards the Rel. Keep up the good work.

    For music listening, I'd go with the Kef. Absolutely. Having a greater extension and a more linear and faster bass response is really nice to get it to integrate naturally with other speakers.

  • @williekenk

    The Kef really has my eye. In addition to multiple exceptional reviews, the size is just hard to beat. I could easily integrate dual KC62s into my smaller room without impacting the aesthetics or feel of the space in my smaller listening room. Not that any of these are large, but the KC62s are just so small, and the rounded matte finish boxes just seem more discrete. The white can just blend in to the walls and melt away.

    I love the utility of the SVS app, and combined with the affordability, I’d have to spend the extra hundred and get duals! No brainer for me. Having dual PB3000’s has been a game changer in my home. Also, since it’s dual use (70% movies, 30% music), it would be the perfect option. One final point not mentioned regarding the SVS connectivity is the Soundpath wireless integration. It is very handy for certain setups when wires are difficult to run. Their latest tri-band system is fantastic. Great comparison points gentleman. I enjoyed this a lot.

    I used to have an older REL T3 and it was an impressive little sub. It was in my budget at the time but knew going in it was undersized for the room (open layout home) but even then it was fantastic. It was still loud enough to shake the kitchen cabinets and rattle the glasses. But it also sounded clean and simply blended in when listening to music. The extension was impressive and seemed more than specified by REL. Sadly though the amp died after 6 years of service. I’ll be buying the new T7X soon and can’t wait!

    I was confused about the points ratings for this review. I agree with other comments that some initial points should have a much smaller weighting applied. Initially the REL was down approx 5 points against both. Once the HT, musicality scores started getting judged it made ground quickly which to me is of higher importance

  • @stevenswall

    @stevenswall

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@anneliesmith7556 I think people claim it has musicality because it's harder to integrate things to go deeper. Doesn't mean they are worse. With room calibration you'd more easily integrate things and they would all sound equally 'musical' but the better ones would go deeper than the REL. Bass slowness is primarily due to peaks that make it sound slow to us. Get rid of the peaks and all of the sudden it sounds fast. This is also why people have the mistaken belief that some speakers are too big for the room: there is no such thing. You simply need a way of taming the peaks that develop, you can still enjoy things that go down to 20hz in a small room.

You can get 2 Rythmik f12-400 for the price of one of the kef62/t7x, so unless you have a tight space you know what to do! You can also get two t5is for less than one of the kef62/t7x so thats a killer combo when you're short on space. 2 is always better than one btw.

    KEF has the wireless connection option for $200. And I could be wrong, you can control the KEF with the LS50 wireless ll app. It will send bass signal all to the sub and the main speakers work less hard. Since I ordered the LS50 wireless ll, the KC62 would be my clear choice. All the reviews seems positive.

    Nice! However I would like to add something. I own a PB13 ultra subwoofer, in a 2.1 channel setup. Since I am using an integrated amplifier and not an AVR it was a huge chore for me to adjust subwoofer settings by moving this 100+ pound subwoofer and changing settings from the back. This year I replaced the subwoofer amp to one of the new ones with Bluetooth control, and I absolutely LOVE it. In your test you gave Bluetooth app integration 1 point but in my book that is a crucial feature and deserves much more mention than that (I know you talked about it further in the end but still it’s an amazing feature). It has improved my quality of life when I need to change settings on the fly, and something I look for now in subwoofers especially large ones. I just ordered a PB16 ultra for my home theater over the monolith 15 because of Bluetooth app integrated

    Thanks for taking the time to make this comparison. They all seem like great little subs, especially for those who have never owned a "real" subwoofer. Unless they are using servo-controlled drivers, won't they all have the same speed. Isn't speed just a function of frequency? It's true shame you guys didn't measure these bad boys and show your viewers what extension and SPL you actually got in your rooms. Another benefit would have been some blind testing since you both could have done that together. It's been proven our brains do crazy things with audio when our eyes are engaged in the process. One was quite a bit louder you said, but at what frequency. Louder at 30hz but no extension down to 20hz? These are the types of things that could really help your viewers make decisions since this is so subjective. Anyhow. Thanks for taking the time. I want to hear and measure what that little KEF can do.

  • @chrisburn7178

    @chrisburn7178

    About the "speed" of a driver: yes any two drivers will reproduce (within reason) the same frequency but that's not going to take into account how fast the driver can move. The leading edges of notes, particularly in bass where there is a lot of extension, means that the driver has to move to that new frequency almost instantaneously. In most cases there also has to be some filtering inside the sub which has to happen continuously before each note is played. If this is too slow or the driver can't accelerate and decelerate quickly enough, there's an audible delay even though the driver will eventually end up playing the correct note.

    In the past i had a SVS SB1000 for movies and s REL T5i for music, i loved both for they different characteristics. Sadly i had to sell both this year because of low resources. This video makes me very curious about the Kef, but i would probably go with the Rel for a mixed usage music + film. Thanks for this interesting comparison!

    I have 15 in. full range drivers in open Baffles powered by a Decware Zen triode SET Amp. I've been using two Klipsch Synergy Sub 10 Subwoofers for the past two years. I was only using the subs for heavy bass tracks for effect , because they didn't sound tight or clean with normal bass tracks.Yesterday i removed both of the Klipsch and replaced them with a REL T/7x . I was literally shocked at the difference it made. Beautiful full mid bass and tight , fast low bass. Anything i listen to sounds extremely better. I've been thinking of this purchase for a while, but watching this video a couple of days ago convinced me to take the leap. I am totally happy with the REL.

    I bought the Totem Kin subwoofer with 150 watt amp built in. It goes down to 29 hertz and is tiny but it sounds pretty good paired to Canadian Noresco speakers from the 1960's which have German Isophon drivers. These speakers are over 50 years old, have nice veneer and still sound great driven by my Yamaha R700 receiver. Nothing has ever been done to these speakers which were bought new back in the day, they have cloth stitched on surrounds so they will never rot out like other speakers do. I doubt if any of these speakers you are testing will last as long as these Isophon drivers now known as GAUDER AKUSTIK.

    Good video. I would suggest doing more visuals such as creating a simple chart with the sub names on left column, the categories in top column, scores for each category and then you could even assign weights as in a weighted criteria decision matrix....or not on the matrix lol. Even if you just posted the chart at the end it would have helped you both summarize it more clearly for everyone. Keep up the good work.
