I started out wearing a 3M large but medium was a much better fit for me. I wish I knew a surefire way to pick sizes but the only way I really could was to just try them out. Also while you are wearing it, it should fit tightly yet not too tight that it causes major discomfort. You should be able to move your head up & down, side to side without leaking air. To check that it fits properly, you can do what’s called a negative and positive pressure test to confirm it’s actually sealed to your face. There’s probably a bunch of videos on it, but here’s how I do it: I start by putting the mask on & snugging it up, then do the positive pressure test by placing a hand on the exhaust port in the front to block the airflow & exhale; the mask should be snug & no air escape around your cheeks & nose, if there are any leaks adjust the mask accordingly. Test this while looking straight forward, as well as with your head tilted up, down, and side to side. Next you’ll do the negative pressure test by placing your hands over the holes on the cartridges and inhaling. If you’re using the pink style filters, remove them and place your hands over the valve holes instead. The mask should suck tightly to your face when you inhale. Do the same thing tilt your head in each direction while doing the test & adjust for any leaks again and you’re all done. I don’t think the order in which you do them matters, but I do this every time I put it on to make sure it’s actually doing it’s job. Hope this helps you!!

It's ideal for you to have a full or half face with cartridges that capture certain glasses. My prof has more info. In the elastomerics section towards the bottom of the NIOSH section. The cartridges typically have carbon that absorb. You'll need to make sure to change them often enough as they stop absorbing when full.

From my understanding 3M uses what is called a bayonet style connection or insert which may be different from another brand like say a Honeywell repirator. But your best bet is to do some research on your own since this will make you more knowledgeable where if your friends and family ask you for recommendations you will be ready to help with your knowledge and understanding. Also research on doing positive and negative pressure test when wearing to see if it's seated properly by feeling and sensing if air is escaping through the seals but if you are correctly wearing it then the air cam only be allowed to enter and egress at the inlet and outlet valves - there are various YT videos by 3M and others showing respirator mask etiquette.

It depends on what you mean by atomized. If it's aerosols (this is what the definition is) or molecules. Aerosols are particulates, so particulate only filtration would be sufficient. Though you might want a surgical N95 or to use a hard shell filter because of all the liquid. If you want to protect yourself from the molecules then you should also use something with gas protection.

We also spray solvent based acrylics, lacquers and enamels. In these cases a respirator is in order that has both particulate and carbon filters to remove airborne particulates and VOCs. And the reason you put your mask in a sealed container is because the carbon filters continue to remove VOCs out of the air even when not in use, and their lifespan will be shortened if constantly exposed to fresh air.

Facial hair that lies along the sealing area of a respirator, such as beards, sideburns, or some mustaches, will interfere with respirators that rely on a tight facepiece seal to achieve maximum protection. Facial hair is a common reason that someone cannot be fit tested, so as long as your facial hair does not interfere with the tight seal of the respirator, you should be good to go!

A PAPR. Pricey, but ideal. You can use the exercise band method but it's still not ideal!

WOW! Love the music that loops over and over every 30 seconds! Makes your video seem much more professional. Can you let me know the title of the track so I can play it on a loop all day and night while I work and sleep? (Can you increase the level a bit though? I can still hear that woman talking.)

What the world needs is a list of hazards and what filters and/or cartridges to use for them. Don't suggest reading NIOSH publications because they Do Not give definitive information. I know that because I got a NIOSH reference book years ago and I was sorely disappointed with it. I mean something stupidly simple, like this: Flour Particulate Filter Gasoline Organic Vapour
