I have encountered people who are unsincerely apologetic . Some are mindful of others forgiving spirit and take advantage of repeatedly being vindictive then apologise without meaning. Some only apologise when there's need of one's assistance. Yes, forgiveness is rewarding to all partners involved with or without an apology. Forgive without enmity. However, it changes the dimension of a friendship. Forgiveness doesn't necessarily means reconciliation.
