Thank you Rudy! I just ordered 2 of the lanterns and 2 adapters off Amazon. Since we refill our 1 lb propane tanks off our larger tanks, this is pretty cost effective, rather than burning up our emergency candles. Just a word of caution, anyone using propane appliances should install a propane alarm. Just like a CO alarm, this is a cheap must have safety item.

Nowadays you can get cheap, high quality adapters for refilling 1 pound propane canisters form a 20 pounder. In recent history it was a dangerous proposition at best to refill 1lb. Cans from a 20 pounder.

@@ThumperSillywabbit Refillable 1 pound propane tanks exist and they are only slightly heavyer than the normal ones. If you want a refillable one, get one of those. The normal ones will waken over time which can cause them to rupture. You'll most likely be fine for the first 10 to 100 refills but there will come a time, where the stress from the preassure chances has weakend the bottle enough, so that it will rip. The refillable ones have thicker walls, so that they can handle the stress. If you want to refill one way bottles, swap them out for a new one after a few refills and or use butane instead of propane. (The lower preassure of butane also helps with the stress on the materia). And never fill propane in a butane bottle. That will rupture the butane bottle.

Hi Rudy, i actually have 4 of these rigged in my cabin like wall sconces running off propane alongside my LEDs and i have had no issues when i use them for days while my batteries are charging or the solar is slow to charge on stretches of overcast days. in fact there are times i prefer them and have left them on and unattended for long periods of time. they are very reliable. i actually own both the Snow Peak Flame and the BRS 55 and honestly they are equal as far as quality goes, i cant tell the difference.

I can see it being useful in certain situations but i prefer the UCO candles propane for heating as alternative to gasoline as well as using generators to keep lights on is much more effective but in a environment where people can't afford things it may be ya only option or ya options are limited. Also a bit leery about using propane for lightning when i could use it for stove cooking. With inflation and highest cost and all.

You don't have to take the glass chimney off to light it. Just put the match at the top after you open up the gas a little. I also would disagree with the way that you told people to turn it off. Just twist the little wire handle all the way to the right to turn it off.

Propane and butane should NEVER be burned inside without proper ventilation. Today's airtight homes do NOT provide enough oxygen to suffice. Also, ever since my sister's house burned down with a 3 wick candles in the 1990's, I always recommend to locate anything that is burning inside a sink. It is a fireproof environment (except if oil spills) and can easily be extinguished. I have lived through many hurricanes with this strategy.

I place candles on a ceramic plate. Personally don't worry about using propain because I have O2 sensors and a working 1950s kitchen fan. In the kitchen I keep a very large bag of baking soda for fires along with a fire extinguisher. I own a Lance Truck Camper it is heated by propain and also has a O2 sensor. There are a couple Mr heaters one for outdoors and a 3 that are approved for indoor use. If anyone is going to use propain indoors a O2 sensor is must.
