The Kedarnath Yatra is a pilgrimage to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the four shrines in the Char Dham Yatra, located in the state of Uttarakhand in India. The Kedarnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is situated at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level in the Garhwal Himalayas.
The yatra typically starts in the months of April or May and goes on till October or November, depending on the weather conditions. The yatra involves a trek of about 16 kilometers from Gaurikund to Kedarnath, which takes about 6-7 hours to complete. Alternatively, one can also opt for helicopter services to reach Kedarnath.
During the yatra, pilgrims visit the Kedarnath Temple and offer their prayers to Lord Shiva. They also take a dip in the holy waters of the Mandakini River and offer their prayers at other important shrines along the way, such as Triyuginarayan Temple and Bhairav Temple.
The Kedarnath Yatra is considered to be a very important pilgrimage for Hindus, and it attracts thousands of devotees every year. The Uttarakhand government and various organizations work to ensure that the yatra is conducted smoothly and safely, with proper facilities and amenities provided to the pilgrims.
