I had a feeling since the first movie that Keanu Reeves would be Shadow. 🤣

Rewatching the beginning of Sonic movie 1 when sonic was narrating “movie night is my favorite” and sonic says “yes Keanu you are a national treasure” is going to very different now.

Our dreams finally came true. I like how everyone was saying Keanu Reeves should be Shadow it finally is a reality. THIS CASTING IS ABOUT TO GO HARD!

100% agree. A part of me was kinda disappointed Hayden Christensen was never gonna be voicing the Ultimate Lifeform. As he as well would also rock, sounding pretty similar to David Humphrey's Shadow. But hey, Keanu Reeves is a MASSIVE win. Now I can imagine his voice in my head saying "Maria..." Ooh he's gonna *rule.*

The fact that Keanu is voicing shadow, just kind of confirms what I've suspected since the first film. The real stars of the movies aren't the game characters. They're not the reason for these movies being so successful, rather anyone wants to admit it or not. Idris aba, Jim carry, and Keanu reeves are the main stars of the show. They'll be the reason sonic movie 3 is a hit at all. Even if the writing and voice acting sucks, money will still come in. With the mario movie, it was the opposite. The movie could've had a cast of random voice actors that nobody knew, and it still would've been a hit because its a Nintendo product. There's a reason why these sonic movies refuse to fully embrace the identity of the games. They don't need to. As long as they have star power, people will watch the movies. I doubt that movie 3 will fully embrace the spirit of the sonic franchise. Because regardless of what anyone thought about that film, the mario movie sure embraced the spirit of the games. I personally don't see Keanu reeves voicing shadow as a win at all. I see it as a sad confirmation. Reeves is the star of the show, not shadow. But hey? let's see how the general public reacts to the film.

At this stage in the game, with the film's release being only about 8 months away, a leak like this is pretty definitive. We're well past "just a rumor" territory. Unless Paramount comes out soon and says otherwise, I think it's safe to say that Keanu is our Shadow.

I was honestly surprised, in a good way. I thought it would be either my man Keanu or my boy Hayden, because both of their voices fit soo well for Shadow. With Keanu, we'll get that grit, serious and melancholy filled Shadow, we all know and love.

I just watched the John Wick movies, so I’m excited to see Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. I also think his voice would fit Shadow very well.

I think that the reason why it has not been officially confirmed yet for Shadow’s voice actor for the film is because of the Knuckles Tv show coming out at the end of the month. Once that is done, then I think we will hear from the movie crew about who is officially coming to do Shadow’s voice. I mean the Hollywood trades are one thing, but the official movie crew is another thing all together.

I’m excited for Keanu Reeves as Shadow

There are a FEW lines that sound potentially fitting for Shadow, but a portion of that is him younger. Most of the clips are horrible examples and sound completely wrong for Shadow unless you make him seem more like a chain smoking old man. That’s what fans want, I’m surprised they ever had an issue with Kirk Thorton’s earlier Shadow voice. It baffles me that people use the “I’m thinkin I’m back!” and “wake the fuck up, Samurai!” lines unironically and think “Sounds just like in the games!”. lol I’m holding out hope as some of the lines are at least barely acceptable for a new take on Shadow and crossing my fingers that he leans in that direction and not his more common Espio sounding voice. As someone who loves Keanu Reeves, I’ve never been so conflicted. lol

I’m very happy with this choice, especially after hearing the voice put over shadow cutscenes. Hype❤🖤
