Given the recent death of "SCTV's" Joe Flaherty, among whose gallery of characters was news anchor Floyd Robertson, I've long wondered if he'd modeled that character at least in part on Burns - especially as Flaherty grew up in Pittsburgh whilst Burns held court in that town every day and night. I saw a few sketches where Robertson had some Burns-like characteristics (i.e. his opinionated streak). Or if not Burns, them whom? But the significance of the "Patti and Daddy" coupling, and that both had a love of journalism and a streak of perfectionism in their craft, made one "SCTV News" sketch (in which Eugene Levy's Earl Camembert character had his son, Earl Jr. [played by Donald Cowper, nephew of John Candy], co-anchor with him while Floyd was a bit delayed in arriving on the set) look to my perspective for sure like a gratuitous cheap shot I.M.H.O. - and a bit unfair dig at KDKA, given how Patti had "paid her dues" before first being paired with her dad on the air.
