Yes, but he doesn't need to do it anymore. Before he was more of a Leon type fighter where he often chose to wrestle for WINS, which was seen as boring to fans. However, just like Usman hes improved his hands and everyone has seen his grit to be champion and though some don't wanna admit it we all somewhat like him to an extent or another.

"went too far with the trash talk" This will always seem hypocritical to me. First of all, this is a sport of giving eachother brain damage. Words don't matter here. Second of all, when Mike Tyson says to Lennox Lewis "I'll eat your children", we love him. When Conor talks about riding horseback into a favella in Brazil (which is a historical atrocity of colonialism) then people are okay. there actually is, Colby wouldnt get the attention he has if he didnt, he's hated for that reason and loved for it as well. if Colby didnt have beef with the ATT gym he would've been a couple of fights away from being irrelevant after losing to Usman twice. what match up would've been this big? This interview actually makes me respect Colby a little more. Although he does take it too far, He was gonna lose his job and him and his entire family would have suffered to some degree. So he started acting a fool and sacrificed his reputation so that he could continue being the financial pillar for his family that he is today. People who have decided to take full responsibility for themselves and the people around them know the sacrifice that it takes. The person doing the sacrificing will experience most of the suffering and not tell anyone about it.

I think this is the mistake that people make with Covington. All of us (unless you’re extremely dumb) realize it is a character and we are in on the act. It’s the reason we love him or hate him. It’s not a revelation to expose any of this. It’s actually annoying at this point.

But I couldn't careless what she thinks or has to say about Colby. Especially considering like she said herself. Barely knew him. And now wants to trash him, and expose the things that people who were close to Colby aren't even saying. Like Dan Lambert used to help Colby prep for pressers and build this persona. Like, why is she saying this. After admitting she's had close to 0 interactions with him.

I"m neutral on Colby, but I agree with how Kayla paints the picture here. Well, if you focus on the fighting you learn that he doesn't have a single win over a currently ranked welterweight and is 0-2 in title fights. He doesn't face contenders. He faces washed up fighters like Woodley and journeymen like Masvidal. Belal Muhammad has more ranked wins than Colby lmao

I dont get why all the fighters just complain that the promotional aspect is so important. Sports are at the end of the day an entertainment product. Its just part of the job. The few Covingtons, Mcgregors, O'mailleys out there have figured that out and they are all successful.

She s so right. The main reason why i started to watch mma/ufc 12 yrs ago is because it was NOT wwe, it was real and the trashtalk was the fight itself and there was some kinda martial art respect. McGregor/covington might make ufc money short term but there r the worst that could happen to this sport
