Kayaking Lulworth Cove to the Durdle Door Epic paddle Dorset

#Lulworth Cove
by the combined forces of the sea and a river swollen by melting ice at the end of the last Ice Age. Lulworth Cove is world famous for its unique geology and landforms including the Lulworth Crumple and Stair Hole.
#Durdle Door
by time and nature, Durdle Door is one of Dorset’s most photographed and iconic landmarks.
It is located on the Lulworth Estate in south Dorset and is part of the Jurassic Coast. The coastline is of such international geological importance that it was designated England’s first natural World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 and is now part of a family of natural wonders including America’s Grand Canyon and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.
The magnificent natural limestone arch was formed when the power of the waves eroded the rock and forged a hole through the middle. The name Durdle is derived from an old English word ‘thirl’, which means to pierce, bore or drill.
As you look towards the sea, you will see Durdle Door beach on your right. Access to the pebble and shingle beach is on foot via a path and steps over the hill from Lulworth Cove or down from the Car Park (charges apply) which is located on the cliff top at Durdle Door Holiday Park. There is a coach drop-off

We've paddled to stair hole in out Intex explorer 2, but it was mill pond. However going back to the cove it felt like we weren't moving even though we were paddling hard. Now after two 14-15ft touring kayaks. Would like to get 16ft plus but storage is an issue at the moment.

Hi Alex You are correct its not a bad run distance wise, but it can be a difficult paddle the swells were pulling and pushing from all directions, and another kayker struggled to get back it felt like i had paddled 5 miles.. I have done it since and it was completly diffrent not flat but alot easier.. You will know as soon as you come out of the bay if its safe or not.....Also do Harrys rock that is a great paddle and alot easier as you can get in and out any where as you cant with the Durdle door.Justin

@@marcusturner92 hey. Didn't do it in the end as it was just so choppy out of the bay! In Lulworth Cove it was calm outside the bay was choppy and windy. Would have been fun still but too much of a battle for the Mrs haha
