Follow Mylo and Paul as they explore Croatia, starting off with a sweet first descent of Zakalj Waterfall on the Rječina River near Rijeka in the North. They also got to explore the Upper section with it's perfect surf waves and Middle box canyon. Thanks to everyone who helped us with info, especially Vlats for telling us about the waterfall!

Local community call her RIČINA. Unfortunately they put all river in the tube for hydroelectricity. So huge time of the year, Ričina is dry on the lower part.Thank you for your support

@@eggstreamkayak Yes, but I have to correct you. Ričina flows at the source most of the year, sometimes it happens that it flows constantly the whole year long. I don't know who told you that it only runs for six days. Even down below the dam it flows more than the stated days. Our association has been fighting for several years to compel the national energy company to release an environmentally friendly flow. The day will come when we will manage to tear down that harmful dam, and then you kayakers will be able to ride all year round. Now that everything is green, Ričina is especially beautiful with its emerald color. We are also fighting for a complete revitalization and the removal of unnecessary concrete structures that are supposedly there to prevent flooding, but in reality, harmful things happen because of them. We want it to shine again in all its naturalness.

Most of the info comes from me. That was probably aproximation... wanted to say how rarely it runs. At least the canyon. Only after heavy rain. And even if its flowing on the sping... its not enough flow for kayaking. So somewhat it is true that it flows rarely for us to kayak on it ;)

@@renatojuretic2911 we said 6 times because we looked at the river level below the dam on riverapp and it only had 6 spikes over a year approximately, this means that it is runnable by kayak. I'm sure water flows out of the source year round but the flow is not sufficient for paddle sports.
