Kayaking is basically a rescue situations route.

Haha I love the "panic" drills where the person swimming deliberately tries to flip the person helping. If I was the "victim" in that rescue drill, I would immediately grab onto and pull the grab loop of the kayaker trying to rescue me, since I've seen that happen numerous times for real.

Worth noting how the 2nd victim in the pin tried to become the rescuer ("I'm alright", right?). Always worth trying a few calming exercises, to make sure it's a team effort. There's plenty of other small learning points that could be noted for educational purposes, but glad everyone got out safe!

Good gravy. Glad nobody got hurt. Run some slalom. Take some lessons. It's called boat control.

Don't understand, why the paddler in the orange kayak took the same wrong line than the already pinned guy in the blue boat??? He was far away enough to check the situation and is running headless in the same desaster?! It should be known, that this section is to be taken in the right... but main thing is to wear a cool helmet and cry for rope (aka William Nealy "Whitewater tales of terror") ;-))) This Eric should become a loudspeaker for Bruce Willis movies!

Care to elaborate? From my point of view, I would say they handled the situation quite alright. But I'd be happy to learn from your insights on how to do it better

With you on this. That's a lot of rope and hassle from a little rock sieve, maybe think about the grade. To get a bit wedged on a rock and end up with 3 pins, ropes, chucking paddles and someone swimming to shore suggests folk aren't paying attention or reading the river.

Learn to steer & lean your kayak before tackling these rivers.
