Was going to get rid of my Kayak left unloved side of house ,covered in that awful green algae, eroded rubber hatch and paint spots from careless neighbours fence painting. 2 days later used nail polish remover to get rid of terrible brown spots, power washed beautifully, order new hatch and elastics.Neoprene spray deck on the way it looks lovely!!!I was going to bin it but I tell you what it's a nice sturdy Sea kayak old school but very comfortable.touch up the scratches ,reprint the name presto .glad I give it some TLC😊👍 2 days later PS it's a Polynorm ( French company? )Haven't a clue what particular brand .

Thanks I really like the way it turned out. This kayak didn’t come with foot pads so I’m gonna install some on it. What part of the world are you in? I’m in Georgia.

@@greatamericansurvival I'm in Virginia but I come through Georgia a lot. I am a long-distance truck driver 🚛 so I am everywhere. I'm in Miami FL every other weekend so I'm looking for a lot of places to go kayaking especially in Georgia I have relatives that live in Georgia.

Great job! I did the same thing on my Catch 120. I also added a 4" hatch at the other pre-marked spot for access to the underside of some deck installations...I prefer nuts and bolts with backing plates to screws, and needed to get below deck to tighten things up in places I couldn't otherwise reach. Stay safe!

Really nice job. Might suggest adding a little silicone around the seal as well.

I've added 2 hatches, 2 anchor trollies, and a gazillion padeyes to my Catch 120, and you're right!...it's SCARY making that first cut! Walk through all the steps before you start...measure, mark, measure again, measure again, and maybe even again before you cut. Once you've started, the anxiety gets a little better! Stay safe!

My fishing kayak sank the other day because of a combination of battery and trolling weight, wind, open hatch cover and big wave

Use the seal to mark the cut......um.....yeah......duh......OK, I feel like a doofus now. I used a compass, so it's accurate, but I still feel dumb. 🥴

Is it a good idea to put marine silicin under the gasket to reinforce the water resistance? Only asking as a complete novice as I am embarking upon a similar job on my kayak

The hatch I used had a foam gasket and I honestly don’t think it needs anything additional.

@@greatamericansurvival Ok ,yes spot on Its just me I'm a pedantic old bugger.Thing is plastic is tricky nothing actually ' glues to it' .I just read old plastic milk cartons melted will do a poor man's weld on larger scratches🥴.I'm going to go over mine with a decorators razor scraper/ fine sand paper see if I can bring this old girl up to her beautiful state😊.Also unsure about the Marine wax mentioned to finish off the tiny scratches .( Wax on plastic conundrum) But I'll see. Thanks for the video and replies👍

Been running mine for 2 years never had a leak. Nothing extra is necessary or needed. The gasket seals it great

It’s never leaked. The little bag isn’t waterproof if that’s what you asking but the hatch is. Is that what your asking?
