Thank you for pointing out the weakness of the plastic version. I will spend more to get the metal one.

Awesome review! That SketchUp looks incredible! Super quality constructed, looks awesome, and a joy to use. Really cool to see you driving that instrument and create vampire boy!

I like the Koh-I-Noor 5.6mm leads more for sketching! Their Sanguine is called Russet Sepia, along with Sepia and their 4B/2B graphite leads, are my favorite sketching leads ever!! I just found out, that they also make a Red Chalk pencil, just not in a 5.6 mm lead, but in common wooden colored pencil. I just ordered it tonight!! Cheers!

Absolutely lovely! We use a lot of Koh-i-noor around here because they are readily available and good quality, especially the artist range. Let me know how you like the new pencil, I only used the chalk pastels they have in bars.

After a LONG time playing with all the Kohinoor leads and pencils, my favorite are the 5340 5.6 pencil, loaded with Kohinoor Russet Sepia (it's actually Red Chalk, or Sanguine as it's also called) Then, their Sepia 5.6mm which is more ideal for portraits, is way softer than their red chalk, so I like it how it works, with their 5347 pencil which is lighter and better for shading overall, compared to the havier 5340. 5340 though, is better for line work (better control due to extra weight and more firm material) I also LOVE their Dark Sepia, which is the best lead for sketching old buildings, lanscapes etc! Their Wooden pencils are the same.I only find the Spia pencil, even softer on the wooden pencil, compared to the 5.6mm Sepia leads. All in all, their 5340 loaded with the excellent Russet Sepia (Red Chalk) is the pencil I've used the most and thus it's my alltime favorite sketching pencil!! PS I use common sharpeners to keep the tips sharp, like KUM or M+R Brass 602 sharpener. Faber Castell 187120 eraser, is the best for erasing these chalk leads!!!@@InyasArt

@@greekveteran2715 very good to hear you found something you like! I love using sanguine leads or pencils as outline when I work in colored pencil. They are also so so good for studies and sketches.

I have the raw brass and love my sketch up, it lives alongside my kaweco brass lilliput as my everyday writing instruments.

I know I'm a year late, but at 12:28 the vacuum effect - I always reload the lead through the back, after you unscrew the sharpener. Good stuff! thank you for the review!

I really like the Kaweco lead holders, specially in 3.2mm, and the Wörther shorty as well. I'm really enjoying this lead sie to draw with

Thank you for the great review - I just bought the raw brass version and can't wait to try it out! I already have a Koh-iNoor plastic 5.6 clutch, but really wanted a more solid version, so I think I found my perfect pencil (although I rather like your satin chrome one too - I may have to purchase a second one in the future!!) :)

I was looking for a lead holder to use with the Cretacolor Nero leads, and I am very glad to find this video. I was to scared to buy the Kawaeco in case they were made to only use the Kaweco brand lead refills.

Oh, yay! Thank you for watching. As I mentioned some leads seem to be fussy, but I don't why, it must some kind of defect of the lead, I had no real issues with mine though. I hope you enjoy yours!

5.6 mm leads, are all the same thickness on all the known brands that make them (Koh-I-Noor, Kaweco, Cretacolor) Koh-I-Noor is the oldest company on graphite, and they indeed make the best leads for sketching. The Russet Sepia and their 4B followed by 2B, are my 3 favorite 5.6mm leads for sketching!! All 3 companies, make some great 5.6 mm pencils too! I like Koh-I-Noor more than the others, even though Kaweco, makes the best quality pencils by far of those 3 companies, but they cost way more too...

Yes they do! It's called the Kaweco Special, they have it in standard or shorty, 2 mm, the 0.x mms and the ball pen. Comes in black, brass and I've seen a red version, too.

Hello there! Thank you for watching! The SketchUp only takes 5.6 mm lead, anything smaller or bigger won't fit. Maybe you can try a the 5.6 mm lead before purchasing the SketchUp and see how it goes, it does take practice, indeed. Also look up their Special line. They have a 2 mm short pencil in aluminium in that collection (black or brass)

Aluminum sounds good instead of plastic 🙌 Cause it would be less heavy than metal but more durable than plastic.

The difference in the sharpening makes me want to find a clutch pencil without a sharpener….regular sharpeners seem to give a larger point 🤔

So... I read your comment again... After replying twice and getting some sleep. Deleted the two replies cuz they were misleading. So! Here we go! I have different sharpeners for different purposes. Those brass ones you can find online usually made by m+r, are very nice and they sell replacement blades so they are very sustainable! It does get to a point that the lead will be too short to handle it well in a sharpener. However, there's always sand paper. If you want a shorter point, the lead pointer in the button is great. But there are other options out there. DUX, makes a tub pointer for 5.6 mm, as well. E+M and Worther make very fancy such pointers in wood or aluminium. I absolutely recommend getting a few options, some are very affordable and they will last you a long time.
