The 2000 ZX-12R was not restricted to 186mph. It was unlimited. The 2001 and later models were limited to 186mph. Cylinder head and other parts from the year 2000 model will not work on 2001 and later ZX-12R’s The stock year 2000 ZX-12r did 1/4 mile at 152mph in 9.47 seconds. 199mph at the end of a mile and still accelerating. I bought mine in June 2000 and a still ride it today in 2023. I have never been beaten by a Hayabusa. Now days younger riders ask me if the bike is new I guess they are too young to know about the ZX-12R

I love this bike. Had to ride it at 4am winter mornings a few years ago as commuter. Flocking hurts. Chiropractic treatment etc. Bought a car after a month. Nowadays, still riding her. A real beast. Such that I may walk with posture post ride; like other sport bikes, I find easier to squat on pegs with tense legs. Ride her like a horse. Strong legs +warm body = no back or wrist hurt + legs that enjoy burn of many days post sunny Sundays. She's easy to maintain and she flys.

If it had a better range, I might have kept her longer, but 100 miles just isn't far enough between fillups.
