Kawasaki W800 Cafe v Royal Enfield Continental - Which is Best? A Proper Battle

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I quick mutter on the Kawasaki W800 Cafe about the Royal Enfield Continental. Despite the engine size difference the comparison appears totally fair and a close battle.

I have the kawasaki w800 cafe, and I love it. I have riden the continental gt and I loved that too. I really love your videos, but honestly, it's pointless trying to decide between 2 bikes (any bikes) because its like anything, what one man loves, another might hate, and that's fine. I bought my bike not based on anything except the way it made me feel, I could not care less what other people think, I bought the bike for me. If you want to split hairs between the 2 bikes, I'd go for the kawasaki purely on the service intervals and ease of servicing. It's pretty much a maintenance free bike other that it's annual service. Sorry for the long comment. Big thumbs-up 👍on your channel, I love it.

Thank you for you comment. That is exactly what I am trying to say to people (in my own cumbersome way). It’s got to be on how it makes you feel (unless it is for a particular job of work) and not to be sidetracked by the reviews and a badge or some strange loyalty to a brand (though if you like one manufacturers bike there is a good chance you will like others by the same). As I keep saying, numbers don’t mean anything. 😁

You should do the taste! She is family. I love mine just as much. Same bike as yours and in Johnson City , Tennessee, USA. On my Concours for the 450 miles away from home looking at brining my cafe here for the roads. Yes, I am moving in a year for my bike to experience the rolling hills of the east USA.

Both great bikes, I love my W650, but the cafe I would like to own is the Triumph Street Cup in black and silver.

Another fine mutter! Even though the R.E. 650s don't have a gear indicator, I can tell at a glance which gear I am in by knowing that 3000 rpm 50Km/hr = 3rd gear, 3000 rpm 60Km/hr = 4th gear & 3000 rpm 70Km/hr = 5th gear. If I owned the Continental GT, I would have to switch to Interceptor bars. Would that make it an Incontinent?

Re. W800's vibration between 3.5k and 4.2k rpm: I found this very obvious while running it in when, strangely, it was much less evident in top gear. At 540 miles on the clock it is now hardly noticeable when accelerating, or even when cruising at 70 to 75mph. This is reminiscent of the patch of roughness found at first with CBR400RR around 5k rpm, which also had beautiful engine characteristics and a wide range of usable revs, when it quickly became irrelevant. If the bike is really good there is always so much else to enjoy...and the same applies to my 2000 mile RE 500 Classic Trials at 50mph+, although I don't often go fast enough on that, to be able to check!

The Interceptor might of been good comparison being upright seating position.W800 is a nice bike but I reckon W800 is a gentlemen's cruiser very high fit & finish but if you want to go fast through the twisties as most do the W800 is not the bike for you.You will be scraping pegs as the pegs are really low on W800 & 137cc more should have more HP at least 58-60bhp instead of the 47bhp which is less than the R.E 650.The price of W800 is nearly Triumph 1200 prices & most people would go that route for that much.Another avenue people take is to get R.E 650 & spend $1700nz on Yss forks & S&S air filter & Race Only slip on's & touring seat or add another $600nz on Yss rear shocks or $500 on Big bore headers either one or maybe both overtime.Even with all of those mods for $2800nz or maybe not the headers or rears $2.2k-$2.3knz 11k nz for bike for a grand total of $13.2k-$13.3k or $13.8k for both.A W800 is $18k no slip on's as a upgraded R.E with above mods is $13.8k fully modified except engine internals & with headers a bump in HP to 49-50whhp(60bhp)63Nm with 2-2 & 53rwhp 2-1 71Nm for $4200 less.A T100 is 67bhp 79Nm but like W800 better fit & finish but what people fail to consider is R.E a mass produced so keeps price lower than what it should be,if made in less numbers R.E650 be worth $1500 at least more.Triumph,W800 made in limited numbers to keep prices higher to own a rarer special product which will influence alot of people but for those who enjoy modifying bikes or just can't afford to spend 18k a R.E650 is the way or some can own refined bike like W800, Triumph & then buy a R.E 650 to modify & make there own.If W8O0 had more HP you'd see more of them for sure & in UK a w800 is A2 but in NZ W800 is a full license bike so a more powerful Triumph is more popular choice.

@@TAYM My mate has one a real corner carver. People say the Interceptor is a Gt with different bars & pegs.In some ways it is but the riding position is alot more sporty & agressive on Gt.Be great on shorter rides. When we go on rides we stop every hour or so & HE does say he gets saw wrists on a long ride but he's young. My Dickie back would be in spasms after a 30mins😂.I was going to get the Black Magic Gt but cause of my back issues went for Silver Spectre Interceptor.HE also put TEC 2-1 & the mid-top end is fantastic.I was with him when he flew by me & did 188-190kmh I was maxed at 165kmh with slip on's & before slip on's 158kmh with my 88kg frame.

Own my last truck, I bought Autumn ( dodge dakota quad cab) 2000. Got her Oct 1999 and put on 209k on her and still have her. Cheap Scot! Love to enjoy the life out of what I buy.
