    They acussed this bike of not being stable over 160. It felt pretty rock solid when i rode it. Every tall bike is stable ... for a tall bike. But if you start comparing them (even the most prestigious ones, even the most powerful ones) with a GTR or an FJR or an RT then they feel rubish. Every bike serve a purpose. Tall ones easy riding. Short ones fast riding. And that's it.

    The wind protection is very good from head to knees. During the summer, I had to point my knees out to the outside slightly to get more wind flow. But during the cooler days/nights, late fall, early spring riding, the wind protection is appreciated. I rode an '16 R3, '05 R6, and a '07 FZ1 and this is by far the most comfortable and wind protection motorcycle I've rode on.

    Not really a beginner bike. First gear on the big Versys can be touchy. Definitely needs a feathered clutch hand, especially turning from a stop light. Fairly tame and well-behaved otherwise. Best freeway bike I have ever owned. Some people could start on it though, and it produces plenty of power and torque at lower rpm's. Practice your clutch work on a friends smaller dirt or street bike to get the feathering (leaving clutch partially engaged with your left hand) technique down. Better to get over potential whiskey throttle issues with a much smaller and less powerful machine. You might have problems with buffeting from the screen if you are tall. I'm 6' 1" and have no problems. The guys that are taller seem to have issues with the original (2015 etc.) screen. I don't know if the SE screen is taller. It sure looks bigger than my 2015 Versys.

    The wobble is due to turbulence around windscreen and aerodynamic instability in front of bike. It is clearly not from front suspension as the bars do not seem to be moving. All of the KZread high speed tests I've seen exhibit virtually identical behaviors independent of rider size/weight, wind direction, or variations in suspension settings. Stiffer settings might help but it is a damped low frequency side to side motion. Might this become an issue if you have mounted a top box that accentuates this? I don't know but since I own one and value my life i probably wouldn't try it above 100 mph which I can state up to that point hasn't been an issue for me. At same time I also don't believe in those ugly square cargo boxes on motorcycles because the unpredictable aero characteristics is like playing Russian roulette.

  • @felony53
    @felony533 жыл бұрын

    I guess it's a matter of personal opinion. I have the same 1043cc engine in my Ninja1000 and like all I4 cylinder engines, there is plenty of high frequency vibration. I feel it mostly in the pegs and seat. After riding at a constant highway speed my fingers feel a bit numb after getting off the bike for awhile. Nothing bad while riding, but still noticeable. Don't know what year your bike is and whether there is better balancing in the engine than my 2014 Ninja1000. Maybe more isolation in the Versys as well. Get that bike on a tight twisty road, not on the Autobahn with gentle high speed curves and let us know how well the bike handles in the transitions. That's the true test in my opinion.

    The ECU of the Versys 1000 is programmed differently. The horsepower and torque are lower and the character is Different. The max power is reached at a lower RPM. So it sounds logica that the Versys vibrates less then your Ninja.

  • @kannermw

    @kannermw

    Жыл бұрын

    @@rogierw9539 It is much more than just ECU mapping. Versys 1000 is lower compression ratio. The following components are different: Crank, cylinder block, piston rings, cylinder head, and camshafts. The lower compression ratio and different valving most likely provides better low rpm/ high load lugging characteristic with less vibration and more stable torque curve. Most likely below 3000 rpm which is much more pleasant characteristic on a touring motorcycle. On Ninja 1000SX it will balk at you when you throttle up in higher gears below this point. How do I know? My brother owns one and I own a Versys 1000 and have ridden them back-to-back.
