Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4RR Oil Change & First Service

Спорт

Performed the first service on my ZX4RR. More install videos coming in the next couple days. Will have the bike on track in the next few weeks as well!
Noticed a lot more new riders buying this bike than what I expected. Figured this video may help them out along the way.

    Why use the kawasaki oil for the first change and not normal oil? I have Mobil 1 T4 Racing oil I was planning on putting in is there a reason to go back to the kawasaki dealer and get the kawasaki motor oil?

    Why would a wire by throttle make a buzzing noise? My understanding is it’s sending an electrical signal to the engine control unit which in turn controls the throttle bodies. I think your first prognosis ie noisy fuel is more likely! Does your Z900 make a similar noise? Thanks for uploading very informative.

  • @amisfitpuivk

    @amisfitpuivk

    I think the noise only happens _after_ you play with the ECU. I don't remember it before that but I could be wrong. It freaked me out too, I thought my ECU was broken or something, but it seems to work fine.

    I went to my dealer to have the first service. I remember with my other bikes like my RS660 that the oil cha ge interval was like 3,000 miles or so after the first change. Why will you chnage after 600 again? Is it because you are tracking it? I dont do track, but am i supposed to do another oil chnage in 600? Thanks in advance.

    Just my preferred way to break in. Probably completely unnecessary but I’ve done it for years so just stick to it at this point lol. As long as your changing your oil every year or few thousand miles, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

  • @jaafersa

    @jaafersa

    I can’t speak for anyone else, but the Kawasaki service manual says to have your oil changed after your first 600 miles. (This is also the end of the break in period for Kawasaki bikes). Then you change after every few thousand miles.

    curious how comfortable you are on the zx-4rr? I am debating buying a zx-4r but i'm 6'3 240lbs I sat on it at the dealer and it felt cramped. do you find you have anymore comfort on the 900?

    I find it very comfortable at 5’11” 175lbs…I’ve yet to do more than about 150 miles in one ride though. Next week I’m going to ride a couple thousand miles through the Ozarks and choose to take the z900 as I know I’m comfortable all day long on it. I would bet on the 4RR definitely feeling cramped for you the way an r3 does for me.
