Those bikes are truly terrifying- it’s frightening how fast they will bite you, even starting it , you feel a slight sense of impending doom, starting with ‘ will it kick back and smash my ankle, ?’ , then you slowly let in the clutch, then a tentative roll on of throttle, not even hitting the powerband, then all hell breaks loose, and you are just hanging on for dear life, eyes streaming, forearms burning… men who raced these monsters in such as the Bala 500 were truly legends!🤣 if ya know, ya know………

Got mad respect for the KX500, growing up in the 80s this bike was the Talk about bike. And the CR500 and the Lt500r AKA Quadzilla! But growing up in Philadelphia we had a field across the street on Angus road, in the 80s and 90s 👍 My dad's friend use to fly across that field doing like 80mph on a KX500 and Quadzilla, awesome times and memories!

Nothing like a big bore 2 stroke! I rode Yamaha, Honda and Maico air cooled big bore 2 strokes in the 70's in the Southern California desert and at the Indian Dunes motorcycle park. They were amazing!! Can't imagine a water cooled 2 stroke with much improved suspension...might have to get me one! Thanks for the cool video!

W🤩w, what a great old school dirt bike this Kx500,it's so rewarding to see these classy 2 strokes from way back still kicking ass in the trails and tracks...I have a friend that has been busy restoring a 1996 Kdx250 2stroke,it actually used to look a lot like this Kx500 but not anymore as it received a decals kit with bits of p🟪rple☂️all 🟣ver it. It came out looking great and at the moment he is only waiting for the chrome plating to be done on the exhaust pipe,in the mean time we can already take a look at the bike which is practically fully assembled 💥🔥✨😋👌!

@@ArmathuX I had a 2002 kx500 one of last ever built, you rode the bush like I used to do. Great arm stretchers I call the 500's but once you and machine become 1 and dial in suspension, sprockets, carby jets running @ 50:1 ratio on a B9ES plug boom they're unstoppable! On odd occasion I'd goto a local track for shits and giggles and tear the track apart and flog the Pro's, most of wanted to know who I rode for and who was my team etc...lol you've either got it or you don't! Beautiful machines, thanks for the great memories my friend keep roosting that wheel and keep safe!❤️💪👍

Loved watching this, that noise will forever remind me of secondary school age onwards, rode it like a boss brother, great to see, I think when riding I enjoy the feeling of the back wheel sliding more than lifting the front up, when your watching another rider weave the back wheel around as the engine is giving it " wap wapp wahh waahhh " makes the hairs stand up on my neck and arms, and I've mostly only been a road bike rider, but love a go on a KX 250 . Never ridden a KX 500. Yet.

Yes agreed completely! Still own my 1988 KX500, and ride it regularly. Mint condition except the occasional dirt under fenders, etc. always loved my 500s. Much easier to ride IMO than my 1996 CR250 (highly modified). Lots more power in the 500, but better linear delivery rather than the “lighswitch on/off” power of the 250.
