The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien (飛燕, "flying swallow") is a Japanese World War II fighter aircraft used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Service.
This Ki-61-Ⅱ-kai was restored by Kawasaki Heavy Industries from 2015 to 2016.

its cool that Kawasaki got to restore their own aircraft by still being around unlike alot of other companies from back then

Several are under restoration in NZ . Kermit weeks and Jerry yeagan have one each ,

+ vrosi1963 I think getting engines are holding them up. Not many Ha40 engines around, and I think Weeks talked about using a DB-601.

Japanese aircrafts are not only zeros
It was a decent fighter but spent more time on the ground than any other Japanese fighter due to mechanical issues. Japanese mechanics truly hated this plane for the headaches it caused. By 1943 it was was already obsolete compaired to the likes of the American Corsair.
