1981 KE100, first bike I ever owned and loved it I've been chasing that high ever since.

For me, 60MPH was about it back in the day on my new 1985 KE100. I used to take that thing on an MX track and could clear an 80 foot step-up and land smooth on the backside. And I raced it in the woods in a couple of local enduros and could embarrass a few guys (probably beginners) on their KX500s and CR500s (obviously very tight and mostly slow speed sections).

I'm curious how much gearing limits top speed. I rode a friend's KE100 back in 1975 & it had more power than my 1973 Honda SL100. I put a smaller rear sprocket on it & saw an indicated 70 mph while I was tucked in & chin on the gas tank. Actual GPS speed was probably 65 mph.

I have one just like this with only 272 original miles. I got it in 1987, I believe, after the dealership used it for a motorcycle training course.

lean forward for more it will go way faster also you need to be going down hill with a tail breeze to get to maximum speed.

Good bikes, low maintenance, simple to work on, 60 - very low 70 mph on flat ground and enough of a straight to even get there and also depends sprocket size / ratio, the older ones had a bigger rear sprocket but not by much, maybe 2 or 3 teeth.

Hey man, thanks for watching.. when I took this video, I recall being in the mid 150's. The fact of the matter is that this little bike withstood years of neglect from a young kid just learning to ride, and as long as you're not trying to break any land speed records, it has enough umph to haul any fatass around, including present me😂😂😂 great bike is what I'm saying, you should totally look into getting one if you can

I bet if you geared your bike up a tooth or so you could hit 65. I geared mine down and it tops out at what yours does, limited by gearing.
