Kawasaki Eliminator 500 SE - A Surprising Motorcycle

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A very surprising motorcycle. The Kawasaki Eliminator caught my eye some time ago. I don’t no what it was about it, perhaps it was that it wasn’t as extreme as the Kawasaki Vulcan or Honda Rebel, with mid foot pegs the position looked just perfect and the bike looked comfortable. I had to ride it.

Many years ago, I almost bought the old Eliminator.. But was very different bike.. Was in line 4 600cc and shaft drive back then .. The bike was screaming yellow colour... The cruiser is the only class/style of bike that i've never owned myself. It was due to money issues as younger me was poor... Looking at bikes constantly as I rest at home after the surgery.

The lil Eliminator looks very very naughty in totally blacked out guise. I kinda like the offset clock. That's one thing I never really cared for the look of with the one clock Harley Sportsters, the centered dial, all by lit's lonesome self. At least the offset clocks have a buddy, an ignition housing or a small spot for GPS... or something or other. Interesting comparison with the RE bikes, makes the Eliminator seem very appealing to a lot of riders. If I were a new rider I'd be all over something like this. The Honda Rebel 500 would be a great bike to compare it too. I've been quite smitten with the SCL 500 lately. Well done Mr Taym! Have a great weekend TAYMites!

I remember watching this being reviewed in the states but didn't think they were going to be offered in the uk so it's great to see they are. I'm sure they will be very popular with the seat height, price and looks combination. As usual the exhaust is the only thing letting it down but that's easily remedied:)

Thanks for the great video! I bought one of these bad boys last week, having test ridden the Triumph Speed 400 (which was very good, but failed to materialise within my fairly short patience window), and then a Z500SE, which I found a bit uncomfortable after a few miles. Being a lifelong "cruiser avoider", I was persuaded to sit on the Eliminator and found it really comfortable, so took it for a test ride. I instantly liked it, and will include the offset speedo in this. The only thing I'd change is the "Fred Dibnah" exhaust described by Greywolf9292. Love it!

I prefer offset clocks. Much better-looking than the Rebel. Lighter, too. I have a KTM 390 Duke. I wouldn't mind one of these instead. 18'' front wheel; 16'' rear. Just googled it. Not trying to be clever, but I thought they didn't look big. I like the front cowl. It could do with fatbars. Brilliant rear rack. Thorough review.

Superb real world ride review TAYM Offset clock to make space for the ignition switch doesn't bother me at all. Kawaski don't make bad bikes do they and it looks like Kawasaki provide the option to remove the pillion seat. What you look like on it, is better than you think. Back in the sixties, a comfortable riding position was thought to be, when the rider's forearm - elbow to wrist is at the same angle as the thigh - hip to knee.

It's not a bad looking bike if you like the cruiser style, the blackout look suits it very well. The exhaust is a pretty chimney like ( I'll bet Fred Dibnah's climbed smaller ones) and very quiet. Even it's 900cc Big brother the Vulcan doesn't offer enough grunt for me but then you know it's all about grunt with me 😊😂😂

Trying to be positive about this, I’d agree it’s not as unattractive as the Honda Rebel 500. They’re trying to use an existing frame to cobble together another style of bike, sort of like Honda is doing with their Rebels. I don’t find the look particularly flattering. I think Kawasaki has managed to make the USB port on the new BSA look pretty good with what they’ve done. They do make excellent small parallel twins, and I’m sure this one is no exception. The Japanese manufacturers have always struggled with designing cruisers, and they seldom come up with something striking. Usually just something to compete with other Japanese cruisers. I don’t want to seem snobbish, being in the US, the home of Harleys and Indians, as neither are my cup of tea, but the American manufacturers do seem to have a better sense of style when designing cruisers.
