@@robinswords As a German: your pronunciation is understandable, but the a is more like the a in "car" and the -er at the end is more like the u in "nut" in Californian, New Zealandish or British Received Pronunciation. (Words ending with -er are kinda strange in German to be honest, we don't pronounce it the same as the word "er"/he except some might do it when they speak deliberately slow, but generally it's more an "a" sound similar to the car one, but not quite the same and we ignore the r)

I grew up in the 80s with those amazing and 100% true to life ninja movies. You know the ones where they had like 87 weapons concealed on their person somehow. I remember dressing up like a ninja as a kid and secretly stashing all my toy swords, knives, throwing stars, and any other ninja paraphernalia in random places in my ninja outfit. I remember being so annoyed and pissed when I'd jump or do a somersault only to have half of my ninja gear spill out everywhere. (Especially if it was an official ninjitsu demonstration for my mom...how unprofessional) I guess that's the real ninja magic. Don't worry though, I'm 41 now and I've almost got it down. Lol

That knot is called a girth hitch. You’ve added an extra loop in there, so it’d be a modified girth hitch.

I always live remembering that the people whose lives depended on these weapons were largely making up their own rules. There's no reason they wouldn't have been debating the merits of different styles of wear and even combat. If we think it's convenient now, it's likely someone thought it was convenient then. People have an awful tendency to treat a single historical example that happened to survive as the immutable standard.
