Not trying to be "that person," but the NFL does not fund the super-bowl half-time shows. It's whoever the sponsor is, and for this one (and all of them so far after this) it has been Pepsi. The artists themselves receive no financial compensation for their performance, only the budget to actually put on the show is compensated. Instead, the media exposure is usually seen by many artists as a great incentive (as the Super Bowl is usually the most-watched thing on American TV each year, generating an average of 150M+ live-viewers, or a little over 1/2 of the US Population tunes in live-time to watch the Super Bowl annually. This doesn't even include international viewers, although most of the traffic is generated by US viewers.) Although artists receive no financial compensation for their performance, usually the increase in album sales, streams, and media exposure more than makes up for it. Katy Perry's albums, in general, saw a SKY-ROCKET in sales & streams the day after this performance, and the same can usually be said for many artists after their Super-Bowl performance...

I have both artists, and I would 100% watch this for an hour than a minute of Marron 5's preformance.

About the lion: The lion was 16 feet high, 26 feet long & weighed 1600 pounds. It took about 7 weeks to build/complete the lion. It was built/constructed in Oregon. When it was completed, it was loaded onto a flatbed, covered with a huge canvas tent and then hauled (in one big giant piece) 900 miles to Los Angeles. The trip took 23 hours. The drivers of the flatbed had to sign non-disclosure agreements that they would not tell anyone about the lion. In Los Angeles, the 11 puppeteers (men who made the legs move) rehearsed their movements over 40 times in a 2-week span. From _there,_ the lion was transported 6 hours away to the actual field in Arizona where the Super Bowl was going to be played. The puppeteers rehearsed for a week. Katy was lifted up to the lions' back, via a rolling staircase. When she finished the song, she got down off of the lion by sliding down a pole.

The Superb Owl halftime show is all about spectacle. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to play this gig. You can argue all day about vocals and bullshit like that but the fact remains that if you’re one of those people you couldn’t do what any performer who has done. Katy Perry did a great job and imho female artists usually put in the best halftime shows.
