I remember being so touched reading a comment on this video when Katy released SMILE. The man shared about his late wife and the her journey fighting with COVID-19. At the end, she didn’t make it, Daisies was the last song they listened together before she got into ICU. He said his wife would have loved the record if she had listened to it. i don't think people will ever understand how much that simple gesture means to me. If I understood the music video correctly, the Angel left the Witch for the Devil prior to the video (which is why she goes home crying), but she regrets her decision since we see her bored with Devil. She then turns away from Witch, because she feels guilty for leaving her, but Witch is like “nah, come here”. The entire video is Witch trying to get over Angel but finding her way back to her.

My assumption was that the Witch was with *both* the Devil and the Angel. Part of the lyrics say "You're not him/you're not her" which leads one to assume that there was both a male and female partner. Perhaps the Devil was the toxic member of their relationship and the Witch left him but the Angel chose to stay with him (perhaps being lead to believe that the Witch was the toxic one and not the Devil) and afterwards realizes that he was the toxic one, not the Witch, so she feels ashamed that she had believed the Witch was the toxic one when it was the Devil the entire time.

The call backs here are awesome. Like the lyrics talking about being someone's muse and a new tattoo from "the one that got away" and the ending throwing it all the way back to "Kissed a Girl". The art direction is gorgeous too. Like a 2D version of the Hotel Transylvania movies with some anime and Disney thrown in for good measure. Just fucking sick.

Making this into a dnd story because a witch standing up to her abusive vampire ex-boyfriend to save an aasimar and falling in love with her along the way sounds like it'll be incredibly moving, satisfying, and beautiful

i love the uno reverse at 2:09. it was very much unexpected

I'm not a huge katy perry fan, but I like how in the end the witch girl finds the angel girl, and she sees that she's someone who understands her pain. she goes from person to person searching for someone to make her forget the pain but instead she finds someone she can navigate that pain with and heal with and I think that's beautiful.
