LYRICS:
Broken people get recycled
And I hope that I will.
Sometimes we're thrown off our pathways
What I thought was my way home
Wasn't the place I know
I'm certain nothing's certain
What we own becomes our prison
My possessions will be gone
Back to where they came from
Blame, no one is to blame
As natural as the rain that falls
Here comes the Flood again
See the rock that you hold onto
Is it gonna save you
When the earth begins to crumble?
Why do you feel you have to hold on?
Imagine if you let go
Blame, no one is to blame
As natural as the rain that falls
Here comes the Flood again
Wash away the weight that pulls you down
Ride the waves that free you from the dusk?
Don't trust your eyes
It's easy to believe them
Know in your heart
That you can leave your prison
Don't trust your mind
It's not always listening
Turn on the lights
And feel the ancient rhythm
Don't trust your eyes
It's easy to believe them
Know in your heart
That you can leave your prison
Blame, no one is to blame
As natural as the rain that falls
Here comes the Flood again

I know this might sound like an exaggeration, but I actually mean it when I say that this is quite possibly the most amazing song I've ever heard.

It's not an egzaggeration - when I heard it first time, about 12 years ago, I told to my friends, that it's one of the greatest composition in the history of music, and today, even though that I'm not listening it very often, I think ecsactly the same. The same level as Bethovens 7th symphony.

Ya. But i wouldn't ever wipe myself using her voice. It's too glorious. Just imagining those baby polar bears playing on her sounds.
In pop music, you sometimes get these 1-in-a-million songs that just... makes it worth while.

The Flood .. imo her best song. Sophisticated structure, incredible melody, great bridge section. Love it.
For the past 10 years, this song has stuck with me like no other. The clip is extremely memorable as well. Definitely one of the best songs I have the pleasure of knowing

I still cannot help getting all chocked up every time she says "blame" hahaha, wanna bawl my eyes out. It's so powerful
This song will forever transcend time and space.
This girl should be a BIGGER superstar than she is. I love everything about her. Honestly. Just superb.
I was a teenager when I first got entranced by this, I’m now 28. I love it eternally ❤
Really beautiful. I don't know why, but the the way the tempo speeds up during the bridge section makes me cry. I love the reversion to the slower tempo chorus. A truly amazing song.
I heard this for the first time waking up with Radio 6. I immediately fell in love and had to listen to it again. I will never get bored of this song.
I've heard this song few times as a kid, but it stuck with me. I didn't have internet back then or good memory, but I've remembered the music video and the tempo change in particular. 10 years later I find this song again after a long search and I realize it subconciously influenced my taste in music and art in particular. I think it's my favorite song of all time.

Listening to Katie is just a flood of feelings and deep thoughts. Peace, quiet and reflections. Great mix. Mind-boggling.
This song is one of those songs that never gets old. Everytime I hear it I get shivers all over my body. The video itself is art already, it fits the music so perfectly.

she's Warrioring up . possessions Don't Mean a Thing If you don't have Joy ...live life without regrets
This song means a lot to me. 3 weeks ago I lost my beloved mum. I feel as if a part of me has been ripped away. But this song tells the true story. That the mortal, material things we hold onto is not the true meaning of life. As yoda said we are not this crude matter. But beings of energy who never die. Love you so much mum and I hold onto the day when I see you again. Xxxxxxx

Très belle mélodie, voix sublime. Un bijou, cette chanson. So underrated, indeed. So beautiful.
A modern classic. Great production.
Wow-these lyrics and her voice. “Know in your heart, you can’t leave your prison” Ie: I interpret as this world
Aaaah the flood... Une des meilleures chansons de tous les temps tout simplement. Je ne m'en lasse pas !
I've never heard this sing before now. I would have dismissed it perhaps about 5 years ago. But listening to the lyrics it really seems to capture the awakening process and where we as human beings are in the midst of globally. 2020 has been a wake up call for a lot of people. I hope many more will soon be able to see a glimpse of the sunrise.

Happy to hear that.
Katie Melua's songs have instrinsic value no matter what external value we give it.
I remember seeing this for the first time years ago I thought this would have had millions of views by now! Smh I love this so much!
You seem to understand the position on the poor, the broken, and the position of diverse countries. I forget. No-one is to blame. Thank you for reminding me with audacious poetic song. I love the many arm, it reminds me of an Indian godess
I come here a few times a year, just to watch this video, marvel in the beauty of it and sing along with the powerful lyrics. I have loved many songs in my life but this was catapulted into my personal top 10 from the day I first heard it and I expect it will always be there.
Love this one after 6th years

My favorite song of all time. You deserve WAYYYY more subscribers and views. Even though you have 5,000,000+ views on The Flood music video on the other channel you still deserve heaps more!
Everyone will have their favorite, but for me I doubt Katie will ever top this one, cracking track.

Such a beautiful girl and voice
Listen to that voice...wow..effortless power...wonderful
The song would be even more beautiful as acoustic only - just piano, guitar, and a strong voice. :)
Her voice is always cuddling my heart.
Katie didn't play this brillant song when I saw her live in Cardiff, was I disappointed a little but her concerts was a pleasure from the beginning to the end. Quality just like this song.
Her best song in my opinion.
Great song 💫❣🧚🏻♀️☯️
What a blast from the past! Not heard this song in 7 or 8 years then all of a sudden i just remembered the melody. Used to watch this years ago when Virgin Media first brought out their music on demand service before we had the internet and before mass use of youtube
Such a beautiful and unusual song, really love it.
