Nothing says Christmas like an exothermic reaction! 🔥 Dr. Kate Biberdorf, also known as Kate the Chemist, is a chemist, science entertainer, and professor at The University of Texas.
Watch as she demonstrates a variety of explosive chemistry experiments with the South Bend community at the 2023 Christmas Lecture, hosted by the College of Science at the University of Notre Dame. Look out-she's not making elephant toothpaste; she's making reindeer toothpaste!
Dr. Biberdorf has been profiled in the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times, and appeared on The Today Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, NBC Nightly News, Star Talk with Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Late Night with Stephen Colbert.
She is the author of the bestseller "The Big Book of Experiments," "The Awesome Book of Edible Experiments for Kids", the fiction series Kate the Chemist, and the nonfiction book "It's Elemental: The Hidden Chemistry in Everything."
The Christmas Lecture aims to inspire general audiences from age 5 to 105 with the curiosity and wonder of scientific inquiry. Modeled after the Royal Institution’s Christmas Lecture series, the College of Science invites a world-renowned scientist to Notre Dame to present a series of lectures for all audiences.
