I always liked Kate and still do, seeing her now she reminds me of a younger Patricia Neal, even the voice. so much for my 2 cents

It was a great series as brief as it was, it would have done just fine without the Columbo name slapped on it. Too bad the executive in charge didn't see it that way. "Kate Loves a Mystery " Would have been just fine at the time. I watched Star Trek Next Generation just because she was on it, lol

I really like "Kate", and I wish there were many seasons. The actress was great in other movies, but I think mysteries would be great for her. I hope she can be the new Jessica Fletcher in Murder she wrote :)

Yes indeed, I can't believe how low the ratings this show had.the few times they tried changing the name of the show hoping to recover, it seemed like the show's ratings became lower by the second.

I really miss it. She and her husband columbo were a pair of heart's for TV.

What I love about this series is that you hardly see any blood!!!Super!!!!And Kate is the most wonderful passionate actrice I know!!!!

A little trivia: The murder victim, Claire, was played by a wonderfully kind woman I used to dance with, Shannon Wilcox. She's actually the mother of Kelli Williams of The Practice. I saw an interview with her where she said she thought she was too young for the role as she was only 23(I think) which is funny because I thought she was in her 30's when this show came out. She is one of those people who look middle-aged already when in their 20's .....

No, she is not looking middle-aged, but she has a low and quite assertive voie, and her face looks wise too. For many years, she looked like she was not changing at all.

So they had Columbo divorced in this series, while in the actual Columbo series he was never divorced? I prefer to just pretend this series had nothing to do with Columbo.

No, it's the same Columbo. But I think the public hated the association with Columbo and it probably limited where they could go with the character, so they cut her ties with him with a divorce.

The makers of the original Columbo were very specific that they felt she was not THE Mrs. Columbo. That she was married to another detective by coincidence of the same name. I wondered if they had a hand in this series being cancelled. And the divorce thing in thing series was not necessary. And of course Columbo was made for 25 more years after this series was off the air.

@@teresaf991 If they had a hand in it was too late as the horse had already bolted !! The fact that the Columbo series never had Mrs Columbo seen or speak was the ALBATROSS around its neck which meant that this Mrs Columbo was able to be passed of as Columbos Wife.

How come that show wasn't a hit?????????????????????????????

The husband's too nervous, he's the killer. Arthur's the killer too, with pipe's smoking doctor's help, and Kate's daughter isn't as innocent as she seems. There's only one YELLOW Mercedes-Benz in the entire States... too easy

I think perhaps it started out that way... .but the producers distanced themselves from making this connection and references were taken away. So.... nope! For example the dog disappeared and the famous cigar, so I just enjoy the show on its own.. Though I totally loved the show Columbo too!

What a relief Elizabeth Montgomery turned this down. Good god, it looks so cheap.

Really badly written and directed if they are divorced why is it still called Mrs Columbo. OMG this episode is so bad "is that your doorbell" lol. Yup just call the phone company and say I'm a reporter and I need that info. Who rents an expensive bright yellow Mercedes to commit a crime.

All-transgender cast, IMO.
