Kate Bush - The tour of Life HD LPR Remastering (Live at Hammersmith Odeon 79)
00:18 Moving // 03:50 Them heavy People // 07:53 Violin // 11:25 Strange phenomena // 14:50 Hammer Horror // 19:15 Don't push your foot on the heartbrake // 23:08 Wow // 27:14 Feel it // 30:11 Kite // 36:41 James and the cold gun // 45:25 Oh England my lionheart // 48:45 Wuthering Heights.

Not the first, but one of the best, however. That last bit of her breaking character showed what made her magical in the 70s. The sudden unbridled spontaneity simmered with innocent youthful delight.
NOBODY was doing that back then. Nobody is doing it now 38 years later and still nobody is even close to what she was doing at age 20. %,000 years from now people will remember Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Kate, and they still will have not caught up with her.

Watched this loads of times but it still find it so emotional at the end of Wuthering Heights when she steps out of character and jumps up and down at the end of the song. indeed it was a wholesome and powerful; moment
Even mime artists and performance dancers in 2022 are taking notes from watching this performance and of course future and current big musical performance artists.
Should also say that in 1978/9, punk was everything in my life. I was listening to my fav band (and they still are) The Stranglers - all the time. Their debut album Rattus Norvegicus is one of the meanest and dirtiest sounding records ever made. Then along came 'The Kick Inside' and offered me a total counterpoint to everything I was listening to and feeling at that time. Made me see the light in so many ways and took me off to far more beautiful places. I found it an incredible record, and even now, if pushed to take 2 albums to a desert island they would be Rattus Norvegicus and The Kick Inside. This record, for me, offers the innocence that she naturally outgrew on her later and more lauded albums and is therefore my fav Kate work. And this tour was just spell binding.

While her music isn't considered "punk", I feel like she still fits in the punk ethos of being an outsider and being totally in control of her sound. She could have easily been exploited by record executives and forced to make crappy, safe music, and treat her like a sex object, but she never did.

Check out the Live in Manchester footage that Granada TV filmed. (Here on YT) This is the way the concert should be seen - much darker and far more theatrical + it has all the songs included. The Hammersmith shows were added to the end of the tour as benefit concerts and were lit far lighter than the rest of the tour, which took away some of the magic, I thought. Let me know what you think? It really is seriously genius stuff ;)
NO Auto-Tune in sight ! ! ! 😄

Just imagine being in that crowd. It blows my mind watching this on KZread. I am 38, and been to some great gigs and festivals in my time. But I would trade all of it to be standing witnessing this unique, ubiquitous, enigma that is my favourite ever artist. My parents were not into music but my Uncle who has now passed away was merchant navy man who just loved music. Through a weird delay in my family moving into our new house around 1998 my family moved in with his family for 6 weeks or so. He had a top of the range Denon hifi as we called it back then and Tannoy speakers prob cost fortunes back in the day and he was not a rich man in a financial way. He took me aside and sat me down in his music room. And played two songs on CD. Kate Bush Wuthering Heights and Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe. Changed my life forever. A lifelong fan of music and hearing It the way it should be heard.

I saw her on her opening night 3rd April 1979 at the Liverpool Empire. It was every bit of a great concert as it is here. I still think Liverpool might have been her best performance, as it was her first night, in front of an audience. There is a Nationwide video showing her reaction to us lot clapping, whistling and basically being knocked out by her. 44 years ago and it seems like yesterday...
I really really love the moment 52:04: her face says "ok the show was ok; I did not disappoint you, and I thank you infinitely...." she was incredibly cute :)

It's such a shame that she never toured in the 80s, as it would have been amazing to hear what some of the songs from her albums in that era would have sounded like in a live setting and she's a remarkable performer. Still, I'm glad we have this concert as a great reminder of her singular genius.

Wow. Imagine being an American, finding Kate Bush in 1986, and realizing you will _never_ see her live. All I had for 30 years was a still image from a magazine (For the young uns, magazines were like blogs, but on paper. In short, technology fucking rules.

Quite possibly the greatest musical production ever staged, rock music anyway! Wise beyond her years at the time(age 20!), This is a testament to her creativity and brilliance!
