Since we are revisiting the 80’s with this hot and a new Top Gun movie, another song that deserves a listen these days is Take my Breath Away by Berlin. These songs are time machines that can transport you to another time with their sonic melodies and for those who didn’t live it, it will still transport you to a nice simple place

I was about 8 when this song came out and remember it all over US radio. I liked it...but thought it was kind of weird and the "barking dog synths" as I used to call them annoyed me. I'm still a huge 80's music fan, though in my teens and 20's I really got into classic rock (60's and 70's) as well as 90's grunge/alt that was popular in high school. But in my 30's I started "nostalgiaing" as I say and went back and started listening to so much "cheesy" 80's pop/rock/metal from my childhood, revisiting barely remembered songs, full albums, and even discographies from supposed "one hit wonders" that turned out to have many great songs or even albums (just two: Alphaville's *Forever Young* is one hell of a great album with every song a near classic, and A Flock of Seagulls first self titled album is fantastic with many classic tracks), as well as even discovering new-to-me groups (especially in the soul/rnb/funk/rap genres). So I sat down and listened to all of Kate Bush's output, from '78's *The Kick Inside* to '11's *50 Words for Snow*, about 5 years ago and...while she's still not quite my thing (like Laurie Anderson I find her a little too experimental or "out there" for my taste in pop or pop rock; I like experimental jazz or ambient, but not pop/pop rock), I recognize her as a unique talent and when I'm in the mood I do really like many of her songs and will even listen to a full album every so often. My favorite is probably '89's The Sensual World.

Imagine how kate bush must feel, a new generation of fans all over again I bet she would have never thought she'd relive her prime. Wish I found her music before stranger things. So euphoric to listen to and her mannerisms in this give chills. So cool

Wow, I just now listened to the original Kate Bush recording of this song and begin to recall the song from years ago. I was 26 years old in 1985. I have a four years old granddaughter who loves the Moonies version of this song for children.

Wasn’t alive in the 80s but I’m so glad to be introduced to this song. It makes me feel something I can’t quite describe with words. Every time I listen to it, I automatically stop whatever I’m doing and become entranced. What a beautiful song.

To all the young upcoming girl singers. Notice how Kate manages to keep all her clothes on and still be a success. It can be done.

I LOVE that this song has had a rebirth in its authentic form and NOT via a cover. I can imagine kids in the 80s buying the single at the record store, dubbing it on a cassette tape, rewinding it and replaying it over and over and OVER again. That whirring sound of rewinding. This song sounds so ethereal. I bet it felt so different and unique to the kids back then. Like when you heard a song for the first time and you just KNEW it was a hit...no video, no algorithm, no promo.... just pure music. Pure magic. I grew up in the 90s, so I was the last generation to experience this before mp3s and digital music, digital instruments, and vocal layering killed the sonic resonance of music. We need to go back to this because music just doesn't hit the same.

I used to buy my singles on cassette when they hit the music shop. And then play, rewind, play, rewind...until the tape broke or got eaten and i had to learn how to fix it with a piece of scotch tape lol. Then i got smart and would make mix tapes of all my fave songs. Some mix tapes had the same song recorded over and over like 15 times on each side. There are so many amazing songs from the 80s...

This song, that I never heard before..made a 62 yr old woman cry during "Dear Billy". Years ago, I asked God to let me give my life to my daughter (now happy 35 yr old woman) when she was going through a hard time in her life. A 5 minute scene in a favorite TV show brought it all back to me. Thank you Stranger Things writers...and Sadie Sink

This is the song I listen too when I think of my mom. She passed away so sudden from stage 4 lung cancer, no one knew not even her that she had it. Wish doctor's would listen. This song only skims the surface when it comes to Kate Bush and her back catalogue. There's an enchanting world of complete genius waiting to be discovered. Once she temps you into her world you never leave.

That episode was the BEST EPISODE out of the WHOLE Stranger Things franchise. Sadie Sink’s acting is truly unreal. edit: after watching "Dear Billy" i was so moved, i had to listen to more of Kate Bush's music..she's truly a talented artist ❤

I love how we all searched up the lyrics to this to find out what it was and now we’re all 80s music fans and the stranger things fans are all meeting each other on KZread and stuff.

Sometimes I get the feeling that the people back then did not realize what they had. This woman was a genius, she wrote her music, she produced and stylized her videos, and her voice just stays with you. I believe she was way ahead of her time. We love you, Kate.

1000000% playback. People lipsynced ALOT back in the day. Contrary to the popular belief that lip syncing has become something artists do in the modern day. The truth is that people probably lip sync less these days

Her music will never fade, I fell under spell when I was 14 I’m now 48 and still under the same spell, I was always seen as a bit of an odd person back then due to my love of Kate but those same folk now understand her genius

She is other-worldly ❤ Amazing talent, gentle, passionate. She is a gift to the world. So many of her songs carried us through difficult times and I have no words to express how grateful I am for her words 🥰

But original 80s new wave and italo disco (check it out) is not the same as modern remakes based on it. I will celebrate the original old tracks being rediscovered again and again and your "It's nothing new" poopy attitude isn't going to stop me. LOL Also check out Giorgio Moroder.

That's crazy ! I was 13 years old, I loved this song, which I listened to on repeat. I'm almost 50 years old, and this song is everywhere again : a huge thank you to Stranger Things, this fabulous series, for loving the 80s, the best years of Humanity, and to bring generations together: I watched this series with my 15-year-old son. What a beautiful share !

I was a teen in '85, at junior high, this song stuck and became an anthem, especially as a bullied student. Hearing it again and knowing a younger generation is listening to Kate, is so cool. Please listen to This Woman's Work and Wuthering Heights.

The way she change the tone of her voice is just stunning, i was 6 at the time now im 43 and anytime i listen to it i remenber those gold moments i spend with my friends hanging out in the streets.

We have managed few true national icons in my 60 years…..but Kate Bush is one of them.

This song really fits Max's character! Her character developed reaaaal good. Thank you Stranger Things writers for sharing this song to us and for creating Max ♥️♥️♥️

@ButterdCrump3ts it's '86 and she's in the states, there are no streaming services. This song was released in the UK while she is in the states. US radio probably wouldn't play it. She would need to have heard this from friends or her parents lololol or learn about Kate Bush from a record store employee.

@@jhonadavid Actually, there's an interview with Kate Bush in an American TV show around '84 (?) for her upcoming concert in the US. (Watched this here on YT yesterday) I think that made her popular. And, sure she may have heard the song from the record bar since she had a tape. Also, I think TVs and radios are necessities during the time period. And do you remember that there's internet already as shown in the scene with Suzie in Salt Lake City? 😊 She's such a genius. 💕

Just saw that episode yesterday, where Max runs like hell to get back to her friends and that song just makes it better. Always been a fan of this show and that episode is one of my favorites. Sadie Sink should be nominated for a golden globe or something for that performance. Absolutely amazing.

Agreed. She is surprisingly 20 years old and her maturity shows but kept saying to my wife she’s about the best actor on this case.

This totally amazing song transcends time. It's totally mesmerizing, that’s the sign of a truly all-time great song.

My mom is a big fan of Kate Bush... Everyone loving this song again makes me so happy. My mom would listen to her every night, I'd snuggle up whit her and listen to Kate Bush. So happy this song is famous again

Shout out to the Duffer Brothers for painstakingly depicting the 80’s music and style as they really were,in a small town,back then. It wasn’t all “valley girls”and over the top fashions. I was a teenager in the 80’s and this show nails it in every way. When this song came on I nearly cried-it was a perfect choice for Max. So happy Kate Bush is getting new fans ❤️

This is not a comeback. The comeback was in 2014 when she finally played this (and many others) live.

Thank you to OG Kate Bush fans for being so accepting of us never fans. So happy that we aren't getting shamed for discovering it the way that we did like I've experienced with other artists. I love that you're just happy her voice is being spread! It's truly a great song

@@MaidenViking_ as a 1990'er I would have to agree that OUR generation was one of the best. we started out in the 90s playing outside and being "kids" and then we got to see almost ALL of the modern technology advances in our lifetimes. We got to see the ADVANCEMENT of technology gradually. kids born in like 2000's and after ONLY know like HD 1080p gaming and always being online.
