The awkward moment when people don't understand the difference between the material and the performers, lol. I've seen great performers with crappy material and performers who couldn't deliver great material. Finding the right fit isn't always easy. I liked the act, mostly because they were able to sell it but it's a different take on what we're used to from stand up so of course some won't like it. Doesn't mean they're bad at it.

One of the most brilliant, hysterically funny comedy routines I've ever seen. I've watched it a million times. There are comics I've liked along the way like Key and Peele, but other than them, I can't remember ever wanting to watch a routine on repeat. I love how the routine eschews the hackneyed misogyny that a lot of comedians use - the sort of "take my wife" sort of thing. Instead, they combine real social commentary - they're proud of each other, they transcend hetero-normative expectations of intimacy, escape violent cycles of capitalism. These are real issues. So smart and creative. This took me to a very buttery place. Hi Doug! Superstars for sure.

Tl;dr - if you don't like this bit, consider thinking about context before automatically hating on it... I'm going to try to comment without projecting my extreme pretentiousness: I get why a lot of people don't find this funny, and it's not for everyone, since like all art, comedy is subjective. However, I'd first recommend replaying the clip a couple times. What they are doing, in my opinion, comes from a very old style of comedy: the classic duo. Think Abbott & Costello, the Smothers Brothers, or more recently, Seth Roger and James Franco, or Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. They are both comedians, but they are also fantastic character actors, and I think this bit is a great example of a modern (or postmodern, more accurately) interpretation of that style. It's great character work, and actually very subtle, considering the range that I've seen from both of them, together and apart. Again, in my opinion, they are very innovative in their sense of comedy, with a subtle but very current social commentary about the selfish youth culture (which has always existed in every manifestation of youth culture in recent history). I'm not saying that it's too deep for many people, I'm just saying that with something so new and provocative, you might need to consider the historical context of their comedy, if this is the first you've seen of their work. Or maybe not, and you can move on, I'll still be watching their stuff!
