Somehow I always felt Katatonia and Opeth went 2gether. Especially their earlier music! Couldnt have one without the other!

This song is a masterpiece.

after a lot of reflection, I think this is probably the best song that kat has ever written and performed. it's so concise, rhythmic, and beautiful. the lyrics are utterly stunning. jonas's voice is at its absolute peak here. the guitar solo is fitting and doesn't break the mood or pacing. just really incredible work. this demonstrates the modern maturity of the band better than perhaps anything aside from deliberation. 10/10 work.

I cried while they were playing this song. First time seeing it live 🥲

***** It was. Indeed. I even met Opeth before the concert. I was walking down the street before the concert, close to the concert venue, when I suddenly saw 3 of the Opeth band members (including Mikael) walking towards me. I stopped them for a photo. It was awesome :)

These guys do not understand the word average. This band transcends music into nothing but pure emotion.

When "what took you so long hits", it melts me.

Jonas is a very convincing lyricist and composer. I dig his vocal stop technique. Awesome!!! 🤘

The same happened to me.

I swear this video was made for my wife and I who I met from halfway around the globe. We went through the US immigration process to bring her here from Australia. This always made my heart ache in such a wonderful way. So happy to finally have her.

I found out Katatonia because of Mikael (as he's my all time most favourite vocalist), and I've been a fan ever since. What an amazing and criminally underrated band.

2019 here - Still the song I use to hook people into Katatonia... never fails.

In my late teens my life had a soundtrack. This song wasn't out until 15 years later but this was it. I just didn't know it then, but I feel it in my soul now. Everytime I listen to it.

Drums work is superb, all the work is top notch, i'm absolutely in love with this record!!

did that all day one day about 3 weeks ago with Old Heart Falls and this song back to back. I went from tears to jovial moments. Love these songs and will always be in debt to this band and other great bands in my heart. Bravo Katatonia

​@@Payne823 They certainly have mastered the use of it in this subgenre of metal music. Opeth has tunes that utilize melancholy in a great way but i think Katatonia has reached an higher tier than them in the use of it. Producing melancholic music is something that Swedish songwriters and producers have in common and it is prevalent in every genre, heavy use of melancholy. ABBA did it in a masterful way, even some of their upbeat happy songs give the listener that melanholic feeling. Sometimes very subtle. Only in metal music has any band/musicians come close to reaching their tier in melancholic songwriting/sound production. Katatonia certainly in the lead amongst them.

This song is absolutely beautifully amazing masterpiece!!!!

Many of Katatonia albums can make me shed a tear, but that one makes me weep really hard.

Amazing band.

I just realised that this might be their best music video, it nails the bleak but beautiful atmosphere. I feel like Katatonia's music is translated really well into album art, but they haven't had much luck with most of their music videos. The two City Burials videos are really good though, that's great.

This is perfection on its finest.

Lethe by Dark Tranquility and this song, though really different, just sink deep into my heart. Maybe it's because of the theme of forgetfulness and oblivion but I could never get tired of listening to them.

This song is just on a whole nother level.

To all of u out there who wanna put this in any genre....lets just go with one word here,and that word is AWESOME.

As much as I love heavier bands like Lamb of God and Meshuggah, I feel like it would be a disservice to the entire genre to not state that Katatonia makes the most beautiful music you possibly will ever hear from a metal band. I sincerely hope that they serve as an inspiration to future bands, and to remind fans of metal that while heavy riffs and blast beats are awesome, they're not everything.

Katatonia should be the most recognized metal band that has ever existed - over metllica - over slayer - over most other than QR, DT, FW, IM, and the scorpions - lol… but Oh my GOD … this is just absolute GENIUS and they know how to visualize it too….
