@@StudioMercyMusic she gave up.saw she couldn't win.one of her dialogue replies was give it up you've killed me thousands of times , this will keep repeating until one of us lets go i think.and also: i've seen you make that mistake hundreds of times already-to zero.gamma have a survival rate of 100% while beta have one of like 14-17% i think.we can deduct she is not gamma by her surprise and her words:you are gamma aren't you?just like fifteen.she never said that about herself.she only mentions she thought fifteen and her were the last Null left but still separated 15 from her category with that comment. She was good but not on their level. The fight was going on into their minds for who knows how long until she gave up and it ended in a few seconds in the real world with zero winning for real.it looks like it was evenly matched but truth is she never stood a chance to win.gamma are just too good.they were the ultimate soldiers of the war.and zero is apparently a gamma class null executioner (mentioned in his file.i guess he stood above some other gamma for some reason.there were a few gamma but we only know of him and 15 personally so far).killing someone thousands of times while he manages to off you a few hundreds (like she mentions in the fight)shows the skill gap.and she also had fancy null tech with her while zero only used a katana. And fifteen is fearsome.they were paired together before and zero's sword glows red on the bridge when the dragon comes.just like behemonth and Leviathan.i guess the toys were a metaphor to show us the tight history those two have.even if zero forgot it all and tries to remember it.15 did not attack him there and neither did zero even if he could have.i guess we will see zero remember his past and work with his old time pal in the next act

@@ComicalConqueror It's implied that her precognition is slightly weaker than zeros because she's not a gamma like him, here it's even worse because she's suffering from Chrono withdrawals (hence why she couldn't save herself like the first time).

@@kentuckybruce6816 Here's what, she couldn't. Firstly, she's not GAMMA NULL, but alpha or beta (from her line "You're GAMMA, like Fifteen."). Therefore she's weaker and can predict fewer outcome possibilities than Zero. Secondly, realizing she cannot win and dies , she decides to suicide bomb Zero, for at least taking him out

@@ShVanesMusic omg your right. start it from the beginning and its quiet near the end it gets loud. I've don't my hw to this track hundreds of times and never noticed.

For anyone sad about killing her, remember that If you were both full of chronos it would have literally been an eternal battle, each of you resetting endlessly every time you die. It really was a mercy. She was short of the drug and suffering withdrawals. The only way for the fight to have ended between two people who can reset time, was for her to run out of the drug and go into the 'time lock' described during chrono withdrawal, where time slows to a agonizing eternal hell of a single trapped moment...and/or at some point, she chose to not 'continue' the game anymore, and lets you kill her to spare her that fate.

I don't think the chronos withdrawal was that important in this instance. She was not a gamma like zero so her pre-cognitive abilities were also weaker.

Actually, the amount of chronos doesn't matter, NULLs only die if they lose the will to fight, and because you are a Gamma, you were trained to basically have infinite will, or to not even have it. She had nothing else to fight for, she knew she was gonna die anyway, and lost the will to live.

@@agentj3627 I think NULLs will still die when run out of drugs, but they don't realize they are already dead in their mind (The time lock). Even they don't lost their will, they still trap in their mind and keep looping the fight.

This is the absolute best sequence in KZ. The dialog and combat are only outdone by the best track in the game. Thanks for uploading.

I like how the gameplay here is looped, actually fits the song's theme of an endless and pointless battle. I don't know if that was intended or not, but it does immerse me to the song way more.

I was randomly recommended the KZ ost in youtube one day. It was this song that attracted me the most. Then I thought, "The hell is Katana Zero anyway?" I almost immediately bought it on Steam for the ost. I'm no stranger to video games, but I had barely touched games that were pixelated because I thought they wouldn't have complex stories and only focus on gameplay. I was so wrong. Katana Zero succeeded on every single front. Story, visuals, amazing pixel animation, soundtrack, gameplay. Zero's story was so enthralling and I found the worldbuilding to be so interesting. I continued to listen to Full Confession without even reaching the final boss yet and had never thought this would be a boss battle song. So when it finally started playing and Headhunter took aim after telling Zero she was sorry and there wasn't enough Chronos for the both of them, it was tragic. "We could have been real people..." is what cut the deepest. And I'll never forget that feeling of existential agony this game communicated so well to its audience.

This game is an absolute masterpiece.. it feels like the music has a game developed for it not the other way round. The story line is intense as well, as trippy as the drug itself, it's blurred, it simply cannot be summed up.

If only I could experience this fight for the first time again.

The way this battle was written was so genius i love how after a couple deaths she actually says things cause its actually a simulation that if it goes right the null will do it as the simulation did it but if a null is against a null they will have a little simulation battle awesome how much more skilled and aware bounty hunter is in comparison to zero whilst zero has compassion and determination and you just feel sorry for bounty hunter since shes atleast kind of aware the goverment is trying to kill her and has given up completely and just wants everything to end like i feel sorry for her in every speedrun i do I miss u babygirl i never wanted to chop off your head but i need to do it for the game

This is actually true, I managed to grow up the volume slowly. Can't remember but mb the difference between start and end is like 10 db, not sure. (after 3 years someone noticed :D )

the feel of the song is something I can only TRY to express i beat the game in a single day, with my girlfriend on a call (she recommended me the game) so i actually got to engage in conversation about the plot and game in general when i got to this fight, combined with the song and the plot to this point it felt incredible, i felt inmersed in the fight, like i was fighting a true equal. dying then trying again, getting further then shorter into the fight like a never ending struggle, like we were both trying our best to beat the other and both of us were failing, yet not being able to afford giving up what a game

GOD this fight, this song! It kinda sucks once you get the hang of it but going through it the first time hit me like a truck. Askii really fucking nailed it. Even just thinking about it makes my heart beat a bit faster. ludoWic, Bill Kiley and Tunc Cakir really suit the game too. Incredible soundtrack. I'm so in love with THIS FREAKING GAME

It sucks how you can't go back and re-experience this fight like the first time. Once you learn how to beat her it becomes easy so you can't relive that feeling of fighting an endless battle in your mind unless you try and lose on purpose.

It'd be in the two nanoseconds of them starting to draw their respective weapons and fight. Entire centuries, faster than the blink of an eye, straight into their final fight where Zero takes her out in three swings.

“We’re *gods,* you and I. I’ve _died_ and *come back,* _watched time expand into the infinite fractal of possibility._ We have no limits - we are *immortal...* But we’re slaves to _small-minded men_ who use our *gifts* for _parlour tricks._ *Slaves to a goddamn drug!* And here we are, two _junkies_ fighting over the *last* hit...”

My take is that she just gave up. She knew she died a lot more than Zero and... Just knew that NO outcomes lead to winning. Also Zero was gamma (I think longer prediction gauge and slow gauge, for us players, also I think the actual predictions are more accurate) and she was Alpha or Beta. In a way, Zero could predict her predictions. She could predict what's gonna happen in, say, 40s. And Zero can in, like, maybe, 60s. Therefore he can predict her acting on what she predicted for 20s. He's 20s ahead of her. (this is unofficial info and they can prolly do longer) From another dude's comment on another video, Zero was listening to the music to time his attacks better (this guy shoots on the 32nd beat, that guy throws at the 37th) Also important to point out is that I personally think that Headhunter crawling on the ground, slowing down, and down... Slowly... Was a representation of the Chronos withdrawal making you stop in one while and embrace eternity, I really appreciate that Zero cut her head off so she can't go into withdrawal.

It is fucked up to think that 2 null fighting has some pretty terrible outcomes, they'll fight forever in precognition loops, but since time isn't really passing until a decision is made and set in stone, does that mean either are actually at risk of running out of chronos? Or can chronos progressively run out, even in repeating timelines? Anyway, so basically one of them can only really lose if they give up, and if they get killed, it's actually a kindness, because it spares them from getting stuck in an ever-lengthening time loop of suffering

@@lassoedthesos5529 Well, the battle from an outsider point of view is a long battle which Zero wins. The battle starts out short, but as the NULLs begin to learn more and more about the enemy they both can counter more attacks before dying. It can't be too long because of prediction gauge tho. It's not that impossible that Headhunter just ran out of prediction gauge and her precognition was down, as she wasn't a gamma like Zero.

I finished the game when I decieded to die the time I had to choose until I decieded to live and go on I didn't want her to die, nor either wanted to live but the little girl was the only reason I fighted for Looking at Headhunter lying on the ground was the hardest thing I had to see in hard mode, so I pressed R to make her live and fight once again The end was the same in the game but in my heart she's still fighting everyday, even right now Press R to pay respects

The thing that really gets me about defeating Headhunter is, perhaps it’s just the art style, but she looks so young, almost baby faced. She’s was probably a child soldier like Zero, who was 15 by the time of the dream sequence where he shot the scientist.

“It's only been a week, but it feels like a year. Every word is getting longer, the mosquitoes are getting louder… When the drug runs out, time stops, and you're stuck in the jungle forever. It's...grains of sand in a shrinking hour glass. I know what comes next. I need to ask you a favor.”

It didn't seem like V was on chronos. He was trying to help to find it's formula and he teased the main character about how he's a "chronos junkie"

After a while of thinking, I think that the only way to kill another Chronos user at equal level( assuming when one save the other one also saves) is to save just before you get a hit in guarantying that hit will always land no matter how many time they reset.

@@theminekbolt_1924 One of the reasons I absolutely love this game. They did such an incredible job interweaving gameplay mechanics with it's story and plot. It especially gets real fucky when you start doing extra playthroughs. You, like the null soldiers can see into the future. You have gone through multiple different trials to find the right way to accomplish the level or section. You know what's going to happen next and at some point or another can be capable of winning every time simply because it's an infinite loop of trying over and over.

Ok, hear me out. If they are both NULL, they both can predict time, failure and outcome, so yeah, in theory, it’s an endless battle. But this is a fight of timelines. Every “life” of Zero is a timeline. When you die in a level where Zero isn’t predicting the future (secret boss, headhunter), you move to a different timeline, where you are still at the beginning. The enemies in the previous timeline go on with their lives as if you died, which you did. This is the case here. Each time you die, Headhunter stays in that timeline and moves on with her business. When you win, you’ve simply found the timeline where you win. Headhunter just rewinds to another one, until she finds one where she lives. She’s alive in a different universe. However her lines “I’ve seen you make this mistake a hundred times already”, puts me off. What if she really is eternally suffering? Why should we trust a hallucinogenic V, if he could just be a manifestation of Zero’s paranoia? I think if Headhunter never finds a timeline where she wins the fight, she will at some point just persuade Zero not to fight.

She has less Chronos as she said before. Zero is "fresh", but Headhunter wasn't taking the drug for 2-3 or 4 days (I don't remember dialog exactly). What if each death in one timeline takes some Chronos in your blood? I think that's the point of all it.

But people like gammas are so jacked with chronos that they know how simulate what'll come next thats why when you die it says somethin like no this wont work and when you finally find out the stragedy zero will actually do exactly as the simulation in the boss you try to figure out what headhunter does while headhunter actually knows youre in a simulation since you both are in the same simulation when headhunter says "you have tried the same thing for a hundred times"or whatever its actually implying that zero has tried to beat her multiple times so its not timelines its simulations

I don’t think timelines are involved at all, Chronos lets you see the paths of the future, as in if you do this, this will happen, which will do this, etc, you guys are battling in the mind trying to overcome the other, finding a path that leads to success, when you die you just do it over again, because it’s not actually happening at the moment, you play zeros future vision, the camera feed at the end of each level is what actually happens

this fight took me so long that this hour loop honestly feels like what this fight is: you slowly but surely outmatching your opponents. Whoever is the better fighter wins and by god, you are he apex predator here. but it is as sad as it is awesome

I honestly have no idea how I completed this fight in under 10 minutes.

If you can predict 4 of her attacks and get an attack in after each one, she'll drop her knife and you can start getting into position for that last strike. True to form, the fight gets easier the more times you restart, as you get better at responding to every attack she knows.

О, целый час? Неплохо, неплохо. Чуть меньше вечности.... Чуть более, чем достаточно, чтобы вдохновиться на фанфик.
