Kat Maclean - Wax Carving Workshop - Soft Square Ring

In this tutorial you will be learning how to carve the soft square profile of a ring. This exercise is simple yet still requires precision. There is an appealing minimalist look to the ring, and the geometry of the shape makes it interesting. Your hand skills will be challenged. You will begin to understand the effectiveness and accuracy of your filing; whether or not you file flat and straight. You will also learn if you have precision in measuring and planning.
You will need:
A Double Sided Wax File
Large File (8”/1”)
Spiral Saw Blade
Saw Frame
Wax Ring Tube With Centered Hole.
Pair of dividers
Calipers
Acute (45°) Angle Square
Wax Ring Reamer
Ring Mandrel
Talcum Powder
Scribe
There are no power tools required for this tutorial, however it is always important to practice studio safety.
