Kaspiysk is a medium-sized city in the Republic of Dagestan, located on the shores of the Caspian Sea, 14 kilometers from the republican center.
In 1932, the Dagdiesel defense enterprise was founded on the site of the modern city. After the commissioning of the plant, the Dvigatelstroy settlement was formed, in which spacious streets and solid residential buildings were built.
In 1934, a railway line was built from Makhachkala to Dvigatelstroy.
During the Great Patriotic War, the enterprises of the village were re-equipped for the production of military products: depth and aerial bombs, torpedoes, mines, anti-aircraft shells, mortars.
In 1947, the settlement was transformed into a city with the name Kaspiysk.
