There are many black dudes who could beat the bunch but it is likely they have some European ancestry. However, mitochondrial DNA shows we ALL have African ancestry which means we had many ancestors with dark skins. Dark skins are beneficial under the tropical sun while lighter skins are beneficial in temperate zones as they enable the production of higher amounts of Vitamin D. In the dark of night, any skin can do all right.
