Karpathos is a rugged rocky Island with a small number of popular beaches, Sun beds can be hired at a cost of €20 per person I find this charge to be rather excessive if a couple have to pay €40 a day everyday on every beach your certainly going to increase your costs, many people complain it’s too high. If you are disabled & have difficulty walking getting on to many of the beaches can be difficult, certainly not accessible by wheelchair. Most beaches can be reached by car the roads are reasonable but you should drive with caution they can be narrow in places, speed limit on all roads is 50km you will soon understand why. Petrol price in June 2024 was around €2.21 ltr The average cost of eating out was €30-€40 for two people, supermarkets are well stocked. Average temp end of May beginning of June was around 26deg, however a heat wave did hit the Island in the second week of June with temperatures reaching above 32deg. WARNING Before eating at a Taverna ask if you can pay by card, if you are not carrying cash, it’s seems to be habit with some Tavernas to claim their card reader is not working.
