Karolinens bön för Svea Rike (English subtitles)

The Swedish military from the reforms of Karl XI in the end of the 17th century and onwards was a strictly religious war machine that believed themselves to be fighting in the name of God. Thanks to this strict religion the Caroleans refused to surrender and fought with all their strength against enemies that were often many times their own numbers - and the Caroleans always won.
In memory of the greatest warriors of the age of muskets - our own, Swedish countrymen. The Caroleans.
Band: Sabaton
Song: "Karolinens Bön"
Movies used: "Sluga Gosudarev" ("Slaget vid Poltava"), Snapphanar

Well, you really dont want any part of what sweden has become. My hope is that you will look at sweden and get strength and backbone to stop the same to be done to you. My hope is that Finland can survive. Because sweden is dead. I hope our destruction will do some good by being a cautionary tale to our old friends and brothers.

Thank you for liking this video :) Yes, the lyrics are quite different. And the strange thing about the 3:08 image is that it was used for "Killing Ground" (when the Swedish army won a crushing defeat and then executed 500 Russian prisoners), because in the image a Russian soldier kills a Swede... Sweden only lost 424 men in that battle, compared to the Russian casualties of 7,377 killed and 7,900 captured.

It is not a communist revolution nor a nationalist revolution. It is a Swedish revolution. It is the duty of all Swedes to fight against whatever threatens our nation, and we must do so at once. First of all we must put an end to the Moderate party's pro-American politics that corrupts our hearts and throws us at the feet of western imperialists. Then we must control immigration and strengthen the national defense, increase the people's welfare and stop the privatization of society.

king kong Well, a stereotype of Americans in Sweden is that you should only concern yourself, pay everything yourself and also own a bunch of guns. But, thats just a stereotype of how we Swedes sees you :) Most Swedes would welcome you with open arms, love to discuss politics while having a Fika with you. Ofcourse that changes from person to person, but dont get to hung up on the cities, Sweden has so much more to offer on the country side to. Värmland and Dalarna should be places you visit if you ever come here to see the real country side. Try to avoid most older people too, most of them havent learned proper English and arent as open minded as younger people :) I hope you fins your time to visit us :)

Because (so far) there are no movies with major battle scenes including the Swedish Empire. Sluga Gosudarev is the only movie I have access to which includes battles between the Swedes and Russians.

had only the swedish cavalry been there instead of 3 miles away bogged down in a swamp their shock attacked would have completely broken the russian infantry and turned the tide of battle in the swedes favor, but the 8000 swedes was simply too few to win.

The subtitles aren't great. At points it is too literal, at others it takes creative liberties not suited for translation. Homeland is a far better translation than fatherland, for instance. Fatherland would be fäderneslandet, not fosterlandet. The word "skuld" in the context of "holy father" would be sin. In old Swedish skuld (debt) and synd (sin) is somewhat interchangable in religious matters, however you would never use "synd" (sin) for debt. In short, when we say holy father, we are not asking God to sort out our financial situation xD I mean, its a good attempt, but there are better translations of this song here on YT. But the movie playing in the background seems interesting, anyone know what movie it is?

thing is, that russian movie is kinda inaccurate in how the battle went, poltava was very very close to becoming a second Narva for the swedes, as several russian regeiments turned and fled even before the swedes returned fire and charged the russian lines,

Wow. Just... wow. You really think people don't have jobs 'cause they don't want to work? When I graduated 2 years ago with 300 other people we all hoped for jobs as soon as possible. About 30 of those people got a job and you can guess if their parents had connections or not. It's impossible to get a job without a drivers license, It's impossible to get a drivers license without a job (money.) I'd gladly work and pay taxes so people can get welfare, so they can do the same when they get jobs.

actually, both of you are right, finns saw themselves as both finns and swedes, and there where proclaimations printed in finnish for the eastern part of the kingdom, and also had their own finnish versions of swedish laws, and the province was called Finland in official terms, like Norrland or Bergslagen etc in modern days.
