Jeremy, Here are some of my thoughts: In 2018, the price of the Karma is sooo discounted....you are basically getting a free drone with your purchase of the camera and hand-held three axis stabilizer. Even purchased as a package (drone and stabilizer) without the camera, you are basically comparing a $200 dollar drone with a $1700 dollar drone. Of course the $1700 drone will come out ahead as a better drone. I truly think the Mavic II Pro is a better drone. That doesn't mean the Karma isn't relevant. In fact...there are a few features the Karma has had for years...That people were dreaming the Mavic II Pro might have, that just didn't come to fruition. Here are things you can do with the Karma that you can't do with the Mavic: -- You can upgrade or downgrade the camera you are using on the Karma. --The Hero 7 shoots 4k at 60fps, 2.7k at 120fps, and 1080p at 240fps... The Hero 6 can also shoot at 1080p 240fps and was out over a year before the Mavic II was announced, yet the Mavic II Pro can only shoot at 4k 30fps and 2.7k at 60fps. --The camera and 3 axis gimbal can be detached and used by hand when flying is prohibited or otherwise not an option (like poor weather situations, or in a National Park or other restricted area). If you don't have good flying conditions, your Mavic II is a $1700 paperweight. --the Gopro Hero 7 camera is waterproof and can be used underwater without any additional accessories. Take your Mavic II camera underwater, and the fish will probably be the last thing that camera films. --Parts on the Karma are modular, and can easily be replaced by the end user if broken. An arm costs 50 bucks, the landing gear or camera harness is $30, a totally new body is $200 or a new stabilizer is $200, but better than $1700 dollars for the replacement if you bought the Mavic II, and certainly cheaper than the cost of DJI insurance and the deductible you would have to pay. --The remote is self-contained, and has a built in view screen. You don't need your phone...but if you want to...you could pass the phone off to your friend and they could use the "passenger app" on the phone to view FPS, and control both the camera and gimbal tilt. Does the Mavic allow two people with different controllers operate the drone? ---Given that the handheld video and arial video are using the same camera, this greatly simplifies color correction and post production processing to try and match footage. ---Speaking of footage...no props in the shot...and no visual artifacts from props that ruin much of the footage I see coming out Mavic and Phantom videos. --Gopro Karma batteries can be used as a portable battery pack to keep the hand held stabilizer and camera charged when you are not flying. Don't get me wrong...I actually agree with much of your review. I don't think it is a bad idea to get a Hero 7, and look at a Mavic Pro as an alternative, all be it, more expensive solution. I could create a laundry lists of things I dislike about the Karma (The size and weight being one...), but as a budget option... it isn't a bad one... just not the best drone out there...

mavic 2 has the ability to change the camera... the image processor in the mavic2 pro is the ambarella h3 which can do 4k 120... the mavic 2 pro is firmware lock thats the main reason it can't do 4k 60, so the possibilty of it being unlock and do 4k 60 is still there...

Gopro drone has sport mode as well to make it fly faster you didn't switch it on

Shoot 2.7K on linear mode!

For what you get with the karma it’s well worth the price. Never had any problems with mine. I also have a Mavic 1 and pro 2. The hero 6 on the karma was a lot smoother than the pro 1 but now the pro 2 is on a totally different LVL.

I still love my Karma.. not super worried about range I use my DJI for that but action shots like at the dunes and stuff.. the setup is sooooo noiceee....

Well being that you should not fly your drone out of eye sight I see why the go pro is being easier to see. Even with a spotter you have to keep within eye sight. As far as all the sensors, what fun is it for the drone to fly itself for you it all about flying skills

Every one hates on the karma because it’s actually good . I have it and I like it a lot . Doesn’t go all crazy like other drones

How does the Karma or the Mavic affect the video of the GoPro? I mean is that the Gopro recording and store the memory on the device so why the Karma change the wide view and had fish eye effect and the Mavis did not? I am new to this and try to figure things out. When you view your flight with the Karma, and when you view on the Gopro screen or PC, do the PC still have the fish eye effect or not, (and other quality as you mentioned)? Thanks.

The Go Pro has way better picture, it's just the fish eye that can be corrected using software. I would however shoot using the 2K wide mode.

I don't know what about your karma, but with my karma the connection is stable.

Shocked at how much nicer the GoPro 7 video image is over the Mavic 2 Pro image. GoPro 7 image has better detail in the shadows, better dynamic range, and a sharper image. I own a Karma and agree with you regarding it's wonky behavior, it's not for everyone. Two things to consider though, image quality is king and the GoPro 7 appears to have better image quality than the MP 2 , even with the 1 inch sensor and the second is price, Refurbished GoPro Karma outfit (with stabilizer) is $299, Mavic Pro 2 is $1500, that makes owning the Karma a no brainer. We'll all going to see a flood of amazing Karma videos coming out in 2019 due to GoPro's price drop on the drone outfit.

I feel like you left out a lot of things the karma can do as well. It has sports mode, many preset auto paths, very stable, linear mode will get rid of fish bowl, and it can have the multipurpose use of the camera regardless of weather. You get a lot for cheap when pieced out. Not dogging dji mav, just saying you didn’t give karma all the props it deserves.

I agree here. This is a biased review from someone who clearly has not had enough experience in flying both units. This was a waste of time.

The Mavic pro 2 is too big to take on holiday , best take the DJI spark or the DJI Mavic mini 1 or mini 2.

I still like it and use it! Plus you don’t have to pay 600 for a screen, shoot at 60 FPS.

Thanks for this video. I need to replace a drone and have been thinking about these two. You’ve helped me make up my mind. I hope GoPro figures out the drone business before they release another one.

@@tahirahmed33 eliminates fish eye. I just got a lightly used karma and loving it. With the latest updates its doing great. The range is good as long as you are in line of sight, depending on environment some guys are getting over 2 miles. I dont feel comfortable going that far and hope the new Gopro 9 will become adaptable.

Its 2021 and im loving my Karma for 300 USD with gimble/charger for gopro(used hero 5 not included). With i could use my hero 9, then it would be amazing balls. Also sport mode IS a thing on the karma if anyone cares (36mph) and i havent had any connectivity issues with mine. Guess the new firmware updates are working! Karma is best value out there IMO

i got me a Karma drone and I've been using it very rarely but now one of the red light is not turning on, so only 3 legs have lights, i am wondering if that affects to the control or if that interfere with the control. also if some one knows how to fix that problem i really want to get it fixed and working like it use to before.

Karma has a sport mode that you're neglecting. It doesnt do 40 mph to my knowledge but easily in the 30s especially with the wind at its back.

Hands down Mavic 2 is better. I bought the Karma in the spring and I loved it at first but the transmission was such an issue for me. Killed so many shots. I have a Mavic 2 now and I love it. I gave the Karma to my son and we fly together sometimes.

Nobody talks about how much limited use these drones actually get. Aerial only video... Pretty boring after a few seconds. Racing drones at least give some excitement. Thousands of dollars for aerial only, 20-30 minutes footage, restricted by environment and laws/regulations? No thanks, rather just get a GoPro HERO7 Black for a fraction of the cost and capture everything.

So I have the Mavic pro original and I love it!! I just bought my first GoPro its the Hero that isnt removable from its case, and yesterday I bought a never flown never used karma with its case/backpack yada yada yada. The only thing it did not come with is the GoPro. I was hoping you could tell me which GoPro I needed. Is it only the Hero7?

gopro7 unable to connect gopro karma? How to deal with it~

There are a lot of issues with he karma but I think that it is still a good drone. I wouldnt reccomend buying it thought because its discontinued I think that the idea behind this specific drone "(karma) is that you can put you go pro in the air and capture some shots. yes it does film in wide view but you can easily correct that in post. I dont think the karma was ever designed to be flown all crazy far and be such a far distance away from the user. getting cinematic shots doesn't require a fast drone or crazy movement but I love my karma for the reason that it flys a go pro that is the reason that you would buy it to have an option to put my go pro in the air and then pull it out and have it on a gimble

I just bought a dji spark on eBay in late 2020 and a GoPro karma on eBay in Jan 2021!!!!

One great reason to buy the karma is it’s a very cheap accessory for the camera. If you already have a nice go pro it’s super cheap in comparison. Another great reason to buy the karma, or the parrot, or evo or anything else, it’s not dji and dji sucks. Can’t fly it anywhere, constant annoying updates, banned by the military, artificial restrictions placed on their cameras to encourage buying their newer models etc, flip of deaths, fly aways, boo dji

@@floridajames04 the drone is currently $500-600 on sale for black friday/cyber monday. Comes with a go pro hero 5. and the gimbal stick. Both of which are worth several hundred dollars each. If you sell the hero 5 it comes with its basically a $300 or so drone, heck its only about a $100 drone if you count the price of the gimbal separately. If you get a friend or family member to buy you say the new go pro hero 7 to use with it then yes you have a fantastic drone for less than $300 price point to go with your $300 camera. Or maybe you're to dumb to understand math or basic logic. (even at the normal $800 price point, when you break it down and subtract the price of the camera and the gimbal you still get a very cheap accessory)

Which is why no 1 actually buys it from them, they buy them from amazon, new egg, or b&h or some other trustworthy supplier. That’s the 2016 version and they fixed it with the newer versions. But they are being discontinued now just bc of sales and go pros overall economic hardship. Real shame from what I heard their next version of it would have had some of the nice levels features like sensors and stuff.

Outstanding comparison! I’m on a used Karma drone, albeit, the Mavic 2 Pro seems better but costs three times as much!

Ok let us compare a $1600 current day drone to a $800 drone from 3 years ago. Do yourself a favor and go watch other videos of the GoPro Karma drone. It is a fantastic drone for the money and can be bought for under $400 these days. The reason the Karma was discontinued was because of DJI fanboys that do not know what variety means.

How to fix the fish 🐟 eye 👀 effect

Lots of defence here about the karma.. so let me defend it aswell I do have mavic air, zoom and the 2 pro, got an inspire 2 aswell, Sill loving my old ass karma drone. Started with the hero 5, then 6, now the 7. I also bought a used pike new none pairing drone complete with everything. Flown only 2x and never paired again said the previous owner. So i have 2 karmas, 3 gimbals/grip, 2 controllers, 4x batteries. I love how the karma flies, its got weight on it, it doesnt stop abruptly like the djis. The only thing i wish about it is if it didnt have the pairing issues and that atleast it could get a guaranteed 1km distance regardless of urban environment..... If this were met, i would have bought every used karma out there and have a bunch of them. The 2.7k shoots at linear mode, no fish eyes. And it doesnt have the digital sharpness like the dji. Ill hold on to karma until it can no longer fly. Id like to add... Parts are really cheap..a full gimbal/grip will set you 80-150 usd used.. You have a choice of hero 5 black, 6 and 7. Even hero 4 black and silver will work with the correct harness. Harness ar3 cheap.. No more of that gimbal overload that dji usually have. If its a pro1 then its easy to replace the cable.. if its mavic air or mavic 2, then you ar3 fuck.ed..... This means you can fly in dirty environments and not worry about dirt getting into your gimbal .

The DJI might be the better overall drone (and much more expensive), but the Karma is better in terms of thw hole package and video quality.

Already have a Gopro Hero7 Black from $300 NEX deal -- $325 for refurb Karma on Gopro site and $100 for spare battery.... Where am I touching a Mavic 2 Pro for that price? Still needed the Gopro Hero7 Black for Scuba so only out $425 for the drone investment. When I win the lotto I will come back and revisit the Mavic series... Karma is good enough for my hard earned cash!

Haha. I asked my self the same thing. We could build a better drone than any mavic for less. The gimbal and camera would be the expensive parts but they could be used later on every other drone you decide to build. These all have al types of things that stop the drone from its full potential. JJROTOGEEK builds stuff that make these look bad. Not even worth lookin ar.

With a 5 set up the right way it looks better then that yellow world of the mavic.

I like your drone videos. Ever thought of doing FPV drones? I’m trying to get into it but southwestFlorida has too much restricted airspace so the drone community is lack luster.

How in the fuck do you like the color of the mavic pro? On auto it looks like you have yellow light bulbs on outside. You can't criticize the hero 7 for it's perfect auto white balance . The mavic looked like the hero 5 on auto white balance. Yellow.. Horrible greens and yellow as hell. The world isn't yellow tinted. As for the distance. Both controllers used 2.4 and both will go similar distance . Your hero is obviously on 5ghz hense the short range of fpv . Not sure if setting it to 2.4 on 7 helps because it may interfere with remote. My 5 on 2.4 does not cause that issue.. But I've seen them fly a mile in person with fpv and a hero 7. The mavic is the better drone. But the karma is decent as hell and the hero 7 is decades better then the mavic camera..

In a nutshell you don't want to be putting your accessories on a drone that could easily fly away crash and land somewhere else especially the new Hero 7. the DJI and any of the Drone that has its own camera in it is where you want to be not a drone where you have to add a very expensive camera to it with the risk of it disappearing or crashing or losing signal which is exactly what happened to me which is exactly what happened to many other people out there with the KARMA, which is exactly why the KARMA has been discontinued. I wouldn't even waste my time with the KARMA if I'm a new consumer definitely go with DJI. sorry GoPro I loved you in the Drone before but no more, you make a very good camera and maybe gimbal or the Hero 7 I think it's terrific but as far as putting all of that in a drone I don't think so

Karma is not a serious drone. But gopro 6 camera is a good camera (no relevant upgrade from 6 to 7, just marketing). If you want to loose your camera and stabilizer someday i recommend you buy Karma Drone. I have one. It is instable, looses GPS connection all the time and worse: has the weakest connection with its control i ve ever seen. Loose it someday is natural. I have DJI Mavic 2 pro too. Impossible to make any comparison. Mavic is a drone and Karma is a crazy assassin flying object. Even between cameras, there is no comparison, as pro has 1"sensor size and is for very different propose. Karma is a crap drone to put you camera under a risk to loose or damage it. Gopro has its own karma for all its existence, which seems to be short. Karma starts to kill Gopro and new old Hero 7 camera will cover the coffin.

You can't compare the Karma to the M2P!!!! and also you can turn on the AFC in the camera settings for auto focus!! no need to have to keep taping to focus!!! Karma relevant in 2018? lol It never was relevant when it came out twice!! lol

If honestly than mavic has not the best video. For cinematic purposes there was 3DR Solo and was filmed even film 13 hours and with hero 4 Black and if you want something amazing from mavic you must turn off all sensors in like woods paths. Karma was rushed drone and that's why it is with problems.

Karma video much better on Karma...

I find it funny everyone knows the karmas flaws but no one knows or just flat out ignores DJI flaws. Just google or KZread dji fly away or dji flip of death.
