Before you ask, the accident is not in direct camera view, it happened at around 2:05 right *behind* me. After I go around the roundabout, at about 2:15 you can see the damage caused to the Mercedes dragging its front bumper. The Megane driver fled the scene. Police were informed and this footage was given as evidence. The driver was later found guilty in court. Read the video description for more info.

Absolutely shocking display from both of you. You definitely antagonised the situation and made it worse. Chasing him down, trying to overtake on the nearside in a cycle lane and then you overtook on zig zag's through a pedestrian crossing, then for some reason you went round the roundabout and blasting back through the crossing again, once again overtaking. As someone who used to use motorbike a lot I would highly recommend to the guy on the bike to easy off, cool down. Regardless of who is wrong, right etc, you my friend are by far more vulnerable take care. That motorist has no good intentions. You do not want to be on the receiving end of his attitude.

Yeah, the motorcyclist is riding very poorly. I realise he was angry but no point subjecting yourself and others to risk just because of one idiot. Overtaking on zig-zags, undertaking in a cycle lane, all sorts of stupid behaviour going on. It also was, in fairness, a short-sighted overtake to start with because there was a crossing coming up anyway. The car driver's reaction was over the top and unjustified, nonetheless.

Most motorists would just accept it, and let the motorcyclist just go in front, even though his overtaking at that point (as a motorcyclist myself) was in poor judgement. Of the point, I know this stretch of road very well. Near where my son lives in Cambriidge (Mill Road).

@@malcolmabram2957Yes agreed, it was a poor overtake from the biker, but we do all make mistakes and, in the grand scheme of things, a drop in the ocean. Had I been the driver, I at most may have muttered to myself, "well, that was a bit silly", and made a mental note to stay away from him due to potential erratic riding! But, as with all these videos, it does only take one of the parties to be reasonable and nothing would happen. It only required either the biker or the driver to not get amped up over this triviality, and it would all be forgotten in a few seconds. But then we'd have nothing to discuss online 😀

I agree with most people both as bad as each other ,doesn't matter where im driving i always let bikers past, and most times they thank me, there is no way i would like to be involved in an accident with a motorcycle regardless who is right or wrong.

You definitely could have changed the outcome by just holding back. Sometimes there has to be an adult in the room. I am not condoning the car driver's behavior, but you triggered the already angry man even further imo.

Well the motorcylist has commited at least 6 offences in that short clip , each offence would merit 3 penalty points each, so that would be him disqualified from the roads for a t least 2 years. The driver of the car did commit offences , and would incure penalty points also. But the motorcylist should understand that the car drivers bad driving , in no way mitigates his breaking of the law, The pair of them are muppets who should , for the safety of others be banned.

@@patbassman8251 Entering a solid cycle lane, repeatedly passing the leading vehicle on the zig-zags, repeatedly over-taking on the approach to a junction (which can land you with 'careless'), and he was speeding to a high degree in the 40mph. Both of them were reckless but to allow yourself to break all your own safety rules due to the - most certainly egregious - actions of one driver, when you're on two wheels? The mark of an inexperienced rider. Not disregarding the shocking behaviour of the driver, as well. An embarrassing video for all involved.

When I rode about 15 years ago - I kept steel ball bearings on the bike and in my vest pocket plus a firearm in the saddlebag. Dropping ball bearings above 30mph will help them bounce and take out a windshield and motivate a cage driver to back off.

Correct, he would need to break the 30 limit to do that. I think people forget when overtaking, in theory, although highly unlikely, you can be done for speeding if you have to break the limit to pass them. What gets me is on a 50 limit road for example, Im doing 50 and someone flies past me to then sit behind the car in front of me who is also doing 50. Swapping places in the traffic doesn't knock any time of your journey but those sort of idiots dont seem to understand that.

Overtook legally...since when was undertaking in a cycle lane legal lol...plus is there really any need to overtake on a busy 30 road really. The traffic was moving, you're just risking lives for no reason in my opinion

Biker was riding like an idiot and both ended up speeding, biker was trying to pass near crossings and in Diagonal stripes or chevrons which are painted on the road to help separate traffic lanes or vehicles turning right. When bordered by a solid white line, you shouldn't enter the area except in an emergency. If the line is broken, you shouldn't enter the area unless it's necessary and you can see that it's safe.

What's the point of antagonising the car driver. Even if he did wrong, you were safe until you got him even angrier. Best to just leave him to his anger and for you to be safe and carry on with your journey.

Hey kids, if you're going to retaliate and damage a vehicle, don't get in front of said vehicle....

Don't make the situation worse by aggravating it. You cannot win a fight against a car.

Totally agree and I did approach the situation in a calm and non-confrontational manner up until about the 0:30 mark where the driver intentionally drives slowly and prevents me from overtaking. Even then, all I want is to just get past and let him be. He asked for this. He got it (read the video description)

I would never overtake on the approach to a red light. People get so stressed and brittle when behind the wheel and can take offence at the manoeuvre and the red mist descends and things can esculate badly. Just drive defensively at all times.

Try going to Hawes or Kirkby Lonsdale in the summer. Bikers rarely seem to do the speed limit on those roads, yet the limit still applies to them the same as for cars. They will argue that bikes can overtake quickly, but if it means breaking the limit to do so then they are bad riders. If I had a Ferrari and did the same I would get the effing and jeffing towards me but no, the bikers seem to be immune.

Not sure why car driver had to overtake a bike that overtook him but also why did the biker tear down the road after the driver just to get in front, both need to retake their drivers licence

He left the scene, which is why I notified the police. I gave a full statement to the police and supplied the footage. A few months later I received a letter confirming they have prosecuted the driver, but no further details just ref no.

I'm a car and bike rider and I can tell you've got a pillion you put her safety at risk, trying to come alongside that car.

To be honest the biker started it by overtaking in a 30 when there was absolutely no need to. Then things just got worse.

Biker needs to brush up on his riding technique. I recommend a course in defensive riding skills and sooner rather than later. BTW it’s not compulsory to overtake everything in front of you.

@@IchBinMadIt is illegal where the biker was over-taking in some cases: overtaking the leading vehicle on zig-zags is an outright offence, and overtaking on the approach to a junction can land you with a 'without due care' charge because it is a DO NOT in the Highway Code. The initial overtake by the bike - while not illegal - was poorly planned, because he could clearly see the crossing approaching with the lights already on red. Most definitely an organ donor in the making. The biker and the driver were both low competence road users who committed several offences in the video. Thank you for posting however, this sort of footage always provides lots of chuckles!

Sorry to disappoint you, but here wasn't. The driver simply got offended because I overtook him and started shouting at me. It was a very nice summer day so I was just enjoying my ride

I think the bald guy was out of order but, the motorcyclist was riding like he shit himself after he passed baldy

Really stupid behaviour by both car driver & biker. Both clearly speeding and behaving dangerously.

You need to read highway code re overtaking on zigzags. Basically it's three points if you overtake another vehicle.

That was a perfectly legal overtake. 2:00 This one is questionable. Motorcyclists can filter on zigzags but they aren't supposed to overtake the lead vehicle, which this biker did. Personally I'd have stay well behind the aggressive cretin in the car and only overtaken him further along when it was safe to do so. There's no law that says a motorcycle can't overtake at a pinch point but common sense would dictate he doesn't. You sound like you haven't taken your motorcycle test.

It's safe to be behind a nob head than have him behind you. The biker should have let the nob head go & let it go .

Where was the accident??

I've known for a long time that they drive on the left side of the road, but I don't think I'd be able to do that. I would be confused because we drive on the right side here in the U.S.

Seth Winters Actually, you'd adapt a lot faster than you think, particularly if you're driving the correct car for the road i.e. steering wheel on the RH side of the car for driving on the LH side of the road. BUT if you really want a mind-blowing thought, imagine driving in a British car in mainland Europe (where they also drive on the RH side like you guys) - now THAT'S fun ... not! 🤔😂

You'd manage. I moved to Europe a year ago having spent 8 years driving a car and motorcycle in the UK. I adapted within 30 minutes of driving. Its just happens in your brain you just automatically know.

The government should be strict in approving a driver license because nowadays even abnormal people used to drive a metal box and that is very dangerous

So, the rider had nothing to say when the guys were sat right next to him, but then proceeds to ride like an absolute loon in order to assert his manhood? Everyone in this video is a Doyle.

I know exactly where that is and idiots like that who behave like that should not be driving. The number of times I have had idiots like that try to cut me off on my bike in the same area is scary.
