Yeah, I really wanted to write something about my own feelings when I play this game because it is so special and evokes such a sense of home for me. I love that other gamers feel the same. Skyrim will always be a magical escape.

What a beautiful scene to imagine. I can picture it very clearly.

I had a friend tell me Skyrim is the only game she can play when depressed. Every other game is mentally taxing, but Skyrim feels safe and soothing. That's the feel I get from this song.

I'm the exact same. I deal with anxiety, and when it's bad, I love my old, familiar games like Skyrim and Stardew Valley because they just make me feel so safe somehow. I'm glad your friend can find some relief in Skyrim, and I hope she can manage her depression so that it doesn't hold her hostage too hard. I know how hard mental health battles can be. I wish her all the good things. x

Familiarity and comfort. I get the same from just listening to the OSTs rather than actually playing the game. It's why I suspect I will cave and get Starfield even though by all accounts it's a 7/10 McGame. It's taxing to continually challenge yourself to try new things, sigh.

Skyrim's been around for almost 12 years and remains, to this day, a fond escape for many. You did Skyrim a great justice, Karliene!

This song is such a mood. I used Skyrim as my therapy when I couldn't afford therapy. It was my solitude and rest. My friend and home when I didn't have a home.

skyrim is my comfort game every winter, so its amazing that so many are still making content like this

I am reinstalling Skyrim. That game was my inspiration and peace since I was 13. I am 25 now. Skyrim was more than just a game. So much more than just a game. It became our own worlds. It became salvation. A fantasy. A dream. It showed us that if we can defeat dragons we can defeat everything in reality too.

After slaying Alduin, after ending the Skyrim Civil War, after countless adventures and endless treasures found, after countless companions/friends and enemies met and felled, the Dragonborn settles to a life of relative peace. Surrounded by snow capped mountains, settled untamed wilderness, the call to adventure ever beckoning on the wind, the Dragonborn wakes one early morn. Inspired by all she has seen in life, she belts out this tune as the first rays of sunlight learn out from behind the snowcapped mountains and arc across the sky. She gazes at the fresh layer of snow from the night before, giving a farewell glance to the parting clouds, feels the cool embrace of the wind on her skin. She is happy, she is home.

The sound of glory & majesty

I still return to Skyrim every day, not to be the dragonborn or anything but to be lillandra the orphan adopting adventurer who explores the homeland of her lost love just to feel closer to them

I just finished a playthrough of Skyrim last month after being away from the game for several years, it's amazing how much comfort and nostalgia I felt exploring the old mountains and forests again.

I basically did the same thing and was struck by how safe and cozy I felt while playing it. The music and the ambiance of Skyrim is so soothing to me.

Amazing song that captures my feelings towards skyrim so well. I still get shivers every time I look up to the night sky and Secunda starts playing.

This song practically sent me back to the first time I woke up in that carriage. The stories I made playing skyrim and the journey through it all. The mods I added to expand the world and the legacy I felt I was making. It was an honest escape from everything and games like it are still let me be that new hero.

My journeys in Tamriel began with Morrowind, all the way up to The Elder Scrolls Online. Even almost twelve years after its arrival, Skyrim remains my favorite setting to date in all of Tamriel. There's just something about the atmosphere and lore of it all that beckons me.

This brought a tear to my eye, like the memory of a lover or a long lost friend. It's not just about my memories of the game but all I've lost between now and the moment I first played Skyrim. It's beautiful. 😢❤❤

I hear that, my friend. I’ve also lost a lot in that time. Skyrim takes me back to a much simpler, easy life, and I really miss it. Sometimes you don’t realise you were on a mountain peak until you’re at the bottom of a dark cave, and that first day of discovering Skyrim in my sweet little apartment with my grumpy cat, was a high point I didn’t even know I was experiencing. I suppose the lesson there is to treasure every peaceful, comfy moment in your life because it’s such a gift.💓 I hope you’re doing ok x

If you want more Skyrim songs, may I suggest the artists Miracle of Sound and Malukah? They've both done several songs inspired by breathtaking, beloved Skyrim. The band Dragonforce also wrote a song inspired by Skyrim called The Last Dragonborn. It makes my heart jump for joy that 12 year later Skyrim still inspires people worldwide. 😊

I've been playing Skyrim since it was first released and to this day, I still find new things to explore and discover, and I still find comfort in it. It got me through some of the most difficult times in my life and got me out of a dark place I found myself in. To me, it's more than just a game, but an escape. This song was powerful and very beautiful.

Damn. 12 years since it released and songs about Skyrim never fail to make me sit up and listen, lol. First game I ever played on a console. You did an awesome job of capturing the thrill of Skyrim the game and also the sweeping vistas that make it a visual masterpiece.

To think Jim Cummings and Michael Gough - who I know from The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh way back when - did such a great deal of voice work in the game. Also, being from Alaska which is probably the closest thing to Skyrim in this world, I always say 'Morning Skyrim' when I step outside for an adventure.

Ah, nostalgia. I did 95%+ of my actually playing Bethesda games during 2012 to 2015. I mostly just listen to music or share memes in the years since, although I suspect I will get back into ESO and then get into for the first time Fallout 76 and Starfield. I discovered your music around 2016 following my then obsession with Prince of Thieves and I enjoyed your Enyaesque sound. Thinking of it, I feel so old? 31 now and still the post-30 crisis hasn't ended? Isn't it ironic, how we view the completed challenges with happiness, and yet I recall the 2011-2015 period was one for me one of great unhappiness uncertainty when I looked back with fondness on childhood, etc. A neverending cycle of the limitations of human memory as a self soothing measure. And now, the current meme of old players returning to Skyrim, to retire their Dragonborn. BTW, if you like Skyrim and Prince of Thieves, you'll also like The Winter King. We are spoiled in the US to be able to get it first.
