That is the juries responsibility. She wants them to come to a conclusion Whether it be guilty or not guilty. I don’t blame her because of all the time they spent on this case it was 32 days of countless Exhibits, People coming in and testifying, Lawyers getting paid a lot of money, Jury sitting for 32 days, and the Judge Who has other court cases that she has to attend to Besides this one. On the other hand, do you understand that if they remain deadlocked, they will have to go back through this whole entire process with a new jury which means more time more money and more Wasting peoples time to come back to make the same testimonies. So I don’t blame her, she’s right they need to come to a conclusion whether it be guilty or not guilty

The jury deliberated 2 hours on Tuesday, Went home early on Wednesday, Went home early on Thursday, And on Friday, only 3 hours before they told the judge they are deadlocked! Karen Read’s life is in their hands, but they don’t seem to care. Alan Jackson presented all the evidence, forensic told them that Boston police Officer John O'Keefe injuries weren’t from her SUV. One of the final witnesses was a retired forensic pathologist who testified Monday that some of O'Keefe's injuries were inconsistent with being struck by the Lexus SUV. A mistrial from deadlock is not a dismissal with prejudice, the Prosecution can retry the case given if it does not violate Read's due process right (speedy trial right) unless Read waived her right. It's the same as the trial never happened, which mean the Prosecution have 6 months to retry Read. If they had not refiled the case in 6 months, then the speedy trial right of Read will be violated, and she cannot be retired again.

She also can't allow them to declare being deadlocked after such a short time in deliberations. Deadlocked means there is disagreement within the jurors, somewhere. So, while YOU might think they "can't find something that's not there", some members of the jury ARE finding something. The judge sending the jury back is so that they can further deliberate and try to work the issues out. Judges routinely do that. No one knows the split in a jury. It could be one holdout for guilty. It could be one holdout for not guilty. If a mistrial is declared, it means that this will have to be tried all over again, with a new jury. She won't be set free.....she will have to sit in prison until the process is repeated. I've seen people be retried, 3 and 4 times. So, cool your jets....it's best for everyone that the jury continues deliberations.

Karen WAS smirking throughout the trial, which struck me as an odd demeanor, as well. And I'm sure the jury took notice of that, too. A person's behaviors, appearance, mannerisms are all carefully watched by a jury, and can leave a lasting impression with them. The judge is there to keep the court in order, make sure the law is followed, and to assist in any issues that come up between lawyers. She must ethically remain unbiased, but that doesn't mean she won't scold lawyers or anyone else if she feels they are behaving unprofessionally. She isn't there to be the social welcoming staff. She is there to rule over the case.

Don't know if she's guilty or not, but I also don't think that the state proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt. It's more important for the citizens, that if the prosecution fails to thoroughly do their job, that a jury should find a defendant not guilty than it is to find that person guilty "just in case." In fact, it's vital to maintain our democracy. The state has to live up to their responsibilities - every single time...

It's a hellva burden for everyday people to reach a consensus on such a complicated case. Shame on you people poopooing the process and impugning false motives.

I think there's one hold out for "guilty," most likely planted by the judge and/or mcalberts. They all have very far reaching connections.
