I swear y'all ready to put somebody in the grave if they go a few months without being perfect. Karen has been in the game for 5 decades, and been dominating it for 40 years. Karen's voice changed before and she adjusted. In the 70's & early 80's her voice was huskier and she used her head-voice for high notes. In the 90's, she was a full powerhouse and her range got wider. In the 2000's, her voice got thinner, but her runs got faster & even more complex. In the 2010's, she started doing echos. Whatever happens this time, she will always be able to sing. Let her live.

Anyone thinking that Karen sounds sick, is struggling, sounds strained or having challenges, please keep in mind- She's just gotten back from filming a movie, had to fly back home for Bishops inauguration service and she's tired. The Clark Sisters were probably the only artist, OF ANY AGE, still performing and traveling in the midst of the pandemic. They didn't get much rest, and they started back traveling more this year. Not to mention she's 61 so naturally her voice will and has changed, she talked about that last year. But it's okay guys, she's tired and having an okay day, it's not her first.

If I sang on the road every week or two and still sang at my church faithfully, I wouldn’t be able to hit 1 note she hit!

People who are younger than her are lowering the key to their songs and even slowing them when they sing live. Karen Clark Sheard is something else 🔥.

Honestly…this is the hardest she’s gone while singing Balm in Gilead in a while. Hitting notes and everything. She’s just vocally fatigued. It happens to all singers. Sounds great to me.

@@MrCMThompson yessss i was just telling somebody how smart she worked this song. She’s very aware of her skill set and abilities to maneuver around high and sustained notes. Like how Whitney Houston started talking a lot of her notes before drugs and fatigue took her voice. I also think singing at church almost every Sunday has added to that.

I agree! All singers’ voices grow deeper as they age. If you are a singer you know this! I think Karen was phenomenal!

I was just admiring how she could tell the band to cut it and they dropped her into a comfortable key so she could like have a lil fun in her sweet spot. Like when you’re hoarse there’s still this sweet spot where you can still do a few of your signature things without too much effort ya know? But then she goes acapella cause she can do what she wants and go where it feels good without having to focus on the music. Plus she can prolly hear herself clearly, easier to control. Sorry y’all but listening to her and watching her is like a subconscious study session for me 🤘💜 listening to her is like no other “sermonic soloist” not just singing super loud or tryna nail a bunch of runs. Like her artistry shows itself naturally even when she’s ministering. Another thing that always amazes me about her and kierra is how good they sound when their hoarse. idk… i am not worthy 🐐

Singing like this after being out of the country shooting a movie, then coming back pretty much straight into the consecration service for Bishop Sheard event for 2days in Memphis TN, then flying to the ATL for this service. I think she sings smart but always worships God in all she does. She knows she doesn’t have to belt all the time but she sings with excellence and always starts a trend. The echoing she does and when she sings hallelujah, she does the energizer bunny across the stage. I just love her.

Some of these comments are extra dramatic. But I guess when you are known as a GOAT, the standard is different. I thought she was going to be sounding like a current Twinkie or her other contemporaries. Her voice is still crystal clear, agile, and she is still reaching the top notes. Anything else just needs a few days of rest which has always been the case even during moments in her younger days. Karen does not have a raspy voice, so any fatigue is not going to be easily disguised. But anyway, long live KCS!

I was raised in the C.O.G.I.C and to this current date a praise and worship leader ...I say that to say this,There is only One Karen Clark Sheard who has been richly blessed by Our God with an instrument that he bestowed within her to bless Us in this dreadful world of pain and sorrow...One period in my life thee enemy got ahold of my mind and started having suicidal thoughts and the Song "Its Not Over" ...Got me through!!..So just sit there and close your eyes and think about thee anointing on her voice and worship with her... And allow thee performance to become a place of worship and not a place to critique someone who had a 2% percent chance to live But STILL and has NEVER stopped POURING OUT HER GIFT TO US... Because NO ONE will EVER be able to touch KCS Vocally 😁

I’m trying to hear what you all hear..Lady Karen sounds perfectly fine. I hear no straining. All of the notes were slayed. She phrased things differently but when you’re a Legend and a Queen you can do that 💜

Chyle, Karen is just fine - and she also sounds exceptionally great! Karen and Dorinda travel all over the place - singing (w/ the sisters and as solo artists)/preaching/making appearances all of the time; all while being active at their church home AND in the Church of God of Christ in totality. Give them a break - cause one thing Karen & Dorinda will do is slay a song - tired, hoarse, or fully rested - it doesn’t even matter! Karen was phenomenal as she always is.🔥

The way she is mastering her new Voice set up is incredible! She was able to be free & flow.

Did anyone ever stop to think that she’s just hoarse or maybe her voice was just tired this day? Her voice is still there and she’s still KAREN CLARK SHEARD! Plus traveling on planes with cold air and various climates and temperatures in different states, can put strain on the voice and throat lol! That’s all!

Her voice has been like this lately. This could be the new normal for her voice. She’s been performing A LOT since the pandemic took over.

The fact that she’s able to hit notes and get through that song while being fatigued and not vocally rested is INCREDIBLE. I can’t sing a lick when tired, let alone a concert. And she’s 60 almost 61! Incredible!!!

It’s okay for people to express their concern for her. It does appear as though she’s having trouble, but that’s okay. She’s struggling on certain notes, but she has the power to even go after them. She’s also hitting the pitches; she just sounds as though she’s tired. Every singer experiences that. I love her and I believe that she’ll continue to give us powerful songs for years to come.

I feelya and YES you're absolutely right...she tapped every bit of those highs. HOWEVER, most of us true-singers/musicians can immediately tell when dat voicebox if her's is WELL rested. She's an anomaly in terms of range-preservation but with HER, the tale of the tape is mainly in the breath control. Notice how she runs out of air a few times here.

It's amazing to see this pure anointing. #God is gift is the best gift every.

They still can not light a candle 🕯️ to Mrs. Sheard. That being said, music accompaniment adds to the presentation. The worship is authentic.

One of favorite song that I listened to during my dad time of his sickness and death during the time when that album came out love me some THE LEGENDARY MISS MATTIE MOSS CLARK AND HER FAMILY. ❤❤❤

Even when she’s not in the right note she will make it work, simply phenomenal (although she’s never off note)

It’s their (clark sisters)song they been singing originally since the 80s. like she’s probably really tired of singing sometimes you never know how’s she’s truly feelings .especially songs like balm in gilead its a very dynamic song. She always be great at what she does her and her sisters she has a huge portfolio of records individually and as a group member. When sing for God you don’t care if you not really hitting impressive notes like we use to her doing we think she performing but she really worshiping it’s a big difference cuz she don’t care about being rehearsed for the world she probably really was giving her all to god and didn’t care who was listening and watching
