Neil Finn is a genius, deserved more worldwide recognition than he got And this song is incredibly underrated

I do English lessons based on this song about surfing and recording 'Together Alone' at beautiful Kare Kare beach, near Auckland. It's one of their most evocative masterpieces; you can hear the waves crashing on the shore during the incredible drum rolls that close the studio version. Unforgettable beauty, thank you Crowded House.

The album version of this track has a strange warbling sound on it; possibly one of the strange "sounds" Neil spoke about the producer largely scrapping. I'd love to hear a fully remixed version of the whole album with the original backing tracks intact..

What the heck goes on after the drum fill entrance with the timing. Cant tell who messes up it kind of sounds like they all do. The drum fill is meant to land right bam on the first chord (like floating on the wave and making the drop) but here its a mess. They recover OK though. Neil Finns voice doesn't sound normal either.

definitely the drummer's screw-up. The phrasing of the verse/intro sections is asymmetrical - 4/4, 4/4, 6/4. He probably lost the plot and just came in when it "felt right" (though it wasn't actually right)

Yeah it's the drummer. Comes in a bar too early. It happens. He's a bloody great drummer, though!

Yeah I agree. Matt came in after 4, not 6. Then a flub from Nick whilst he's working out where in the bar they are...! Kudos to Neil and Mark, carrying it through that rocky opening stanza though.

@@chrisbuckley5030 I really heard something weird but I didn't know the reason. All of you do know how to identify what happened. Brilliant
