    If you dive into the human mind's networks, martial artists are actually conditioned to associate combat with the mundane. We spend most of our day doing mundane work, and you need incredible patience or powerful motivators to do it regularly. People who study combat for revenge or other short-sighted goals burn out very quickly, and in the long run, they'll lose their drive to continue the art when they achieve their goals or fail. By programming yourself to think of Kung Fu as an essential but not outstanding part of your life, you'd start doing it without ever feeling like giving up, because there is no loss, there is no defeat or insecurity, only the tranquillity of a mind on auto-pilot. It becomes meditation. It becomes your inner peace. "It's life" is a very philosophical and eloquent way to put it.

    Eastern philosophy is too broad subject to say. it Includes all Chinese, Japanese, Hindu and Arabic philosophies from the begining of civilizations. Even for kung fu it is not true, there are plenty Shaolin monks who don't care about spiritual side of it nor meditate, they just want to train kung fu. I think we in the west these days over romantisize Asian philosophy and culture same as they over romantisize ours.

  • @Nargon46

    @Nargon46

    Жыл бұрын

    @NFTrendsDaily Kung Fu is a form of martial art, but the styles are completely different. Karate was developed by the Japanese, whereas Kung Fu was developed by the Chinese, so the cultures surrounding the two are also completely different. Karate also has pretty deep roots in America, and is more mainstream in the US than Kung Fu. So calling a movie that is explicitly about Kung Fu "The Karate Kid" would be a bit like calling a Star Wars movie "Star Trek". Sure they are both movies, even sci-fi movies, but they are very different in content and themes, and the name implies something very different.

    If there is one thing I loved most about how the students were taught in the original and this, it was that they went to their teacher to learn to punch and kick, but instead they were taught how to protect themselves from attacks. Block, parry, evade, avoid, escape is actual self defense. Once you know that, then your own offense isn't usually necessary. Unless you've made enemies of an entire martial arts school...then you are really going to need to learn to take away their ability to continue the fight- but that would have come in a sequel.

Whether he was angry, crying, making jokes, or showing genuine sympathy, it never once came across as corny or too rehearsed the way most child actors do. In fact, I'd go as far as saying this is one of the best performances by a child actor in American cinema, _period._ Hats off to this kid and I hope he hits his stride again in the future.

    This reminds me of an old story I heard about a young kid who went to the Shaolin seeking the means to become strong. He was instructed to stand and slap a big pot of sand repeatedly with his hands. Day after day he wasn't taught anything else, months after months of being refused to be taught any fighting techniques and years after years he kept slapping the same big pot of sand. Eventually he left the temple, convinced he'll never any kung Fu and returned home. His mother asked him what did he learn from all those years of training. In his frustration, he yelled "I learnt nothing!" and slapped the dinning table, breaking the table clean in half. That's when he realised, he had been learning Kung Fu the entire time.

He can make one perfect scene after he did hundred scenes then finding an exact one he needed because they have a lot of time in Hongkong. But, when he did in Hollywood, everything was being modernized and this is what he dont like it because there is one element was missing in making movie : TIME. He also said that he is not perfect too and anyone can do like he did. But, do you have PATIENCE to do that hundred scenes just for perfect one??? The whole thing is essentially a Chinese language lesson. Most people think kung fu means martial arts. In Chinese, the term "kung fu" refers to ANY SKILL that is acquired through learning or practice. Mr. Han isn't waxing poetic about "everything is kung fu" like a fortune cookie. It's literal. That's what makes this scene really cool. It's not at all the same as if someone said "everything is karate". Most Chinese people would find the "literal definition" of kung fu pretty detached from kung fu defined as martial arts. The word basically has two definitions colloquially. The filmmakers/writers did an amazing job coming up with a demonstration where effort/repetition/mastery/learning good morals LITERALLY turned into martial arts ability. Despite being so similar to the original Karate Kid's wax on wax off, there's additional meaning to it. Not to say that this scene is superior, but chores as body conditioning is just more straightforward than what the writers tried to do here. They probably had to. Turning a lesson about respecting his mother into a kung fu lesson is more of a mind-fuck, but they HAD to push further than the original did, because that's already been done. Even if they pulled wax-on wax-off off slightly better, it would have way less impact than when the whole world was awestruck by the moment back in the 80's.

    @@aquaticlibrary > After Earth was terrible Not sure you can blame that on Jaden's acting though. They took one of the most talented, charismatic actors of all time, and put him in a role where he's supposed to show no emotion? Whoever thought of that was a genius. /s

    “Everything is Kung Fu”. One of the greatest moments in martial art film history because it’s retained the essence of the original Kung Fu Kid film. This is superb… how it shows the passing of time and the realisation of when the young student unknowingly gained the benefits of it… until the very end. I really appreciate the martial art details… holding his hands, talking about strong arms, firmness, strength and right attitude. Great acting and a brilliant script. I love it. 👌🏽💜

    @kinishkiwa- yes, even that too!!! Practice drawing your sword/pistol from the waist holster/scabbard *OR* shoot/strike your imaginary opponent, a gazillion times......and, within no time you shall become a master of weapon draw and instant kill. Such is the power of repetitive actions and subconcious mind!!!!!! Not just the chinese, it's a knowledge long known by ancient people all throughout the old world, just because it's a formidable ability that greatly enhances human capabilities. Ever heard or saw an old cowboy shoot out movie or a japanese iyai-sword drawing movie. That's basically what those martial art masters/warriors are emulating to do

    Well there's a story behind why the title is this. As much as I know, there's a film of Brice Lee titled karate kid. And this film was also named the same to gain interest among people. Well this seemed absurd to me also.
