Karate Gripping Flow Drill 3
Спорт
In this video I show how to blend 2 gripping drills from Iain Abernethy into one longer drill. Drill #1 focusses on establishing an overhook and a collar tie along with the escape. Drill #2 is focusses on the Thai clinch with a simple escape. Drill #3 combines the two drills.
This drill is a testing requirement for 5th and 4th kyus at my club, Nova Karate Jutsu.
Here's a gripping drill from Iain Abernethy: • Practical Kata Bunkai:...

The last couple of moves in Pinan 2 are effective against a Thai Clinch. Hammer fist to the groin or inner thigh, swim that hand up between their fore arms and grab the back of their head, your other arm does a forearm strike to their face as you step forward with it
Nice
Nice drill, I want to practice more of this. Thanks

@@AppliedShotokan good job! He came to Australia but I'm on the other side of the continent. I was playing around with this the other day when I snuck a knife into it, as per a Hard2Hurt collaboration with Jesse Enkamp, the availability of information is awesome, though there's no shortage of bollocks out there too. Thanks again, Osu!
I didn’t know karate had gripping in it! Why has this fact been hidden from me my whole life lol.

Because most of karate instructors don't have a good understanding of kata. Especially those from Japanese styles like Shotokan Karate.

@@silver_rose_wolf438 I mean it just takes some research and time to understand what the karate techniques and moves in kata means. The japanese simplified the moves to focus on athletism, education and competition. Research about Okinawan Karate will help you understand the real applications for kata.
