2012 Karai is definitely is my favorite because she had some nerve to talk back to the Shredder even before she found out that Shredder was actually being dishonest. She is highly intelligent and strong willed and she likes to sass around with her younger brothers (once she allied them).

2012 Karai was my favourite because I liked her back story and having her being Splinter's daughter instead of Shedder's adopted was a beautiful addition to the plot. However, after she turned good, I noticed that the creators weakened her ninjitsu skills and focussed more on April as the show progressed, which greatly annoyed me. I also didn't like how they rarely gave us as many Leorai moments as the other brothers got, because - in my opinion - their relationship was enjoyable to watch and I felt like it needed more development. However she was still strong, witty and sly making her a great character ❤

Yess I actually hated that part ...... cause karai had been trained for 15 years and April probably 3 or 4 ...... what ever she does she can't match with her skill , experience and power .... yes I agree she has psychic power ... but that's got nothing to do with her physique....

What I love about how they handled that fire between 2012 Karai and Leonardo is that it wasn't forced, there was no "We have to give him a girlfriend just because" the way a teenage girl and a Teenage boy met and became attracted to each other was done believable.

Like the 2003 version, this Karai also struggles with what she really wants. Torn between honor and the family. But not really a bad person since Shredder poisoned her mind with anger and revenge most of her life

I like 2012 ver because of her backstory it’s so tragic, and she was deadly and hella skilled too. also the fact that they made her even more deadly by making her a serpent. Her serpent form is beautiful too Though I do feel like she became weaker as the seasons progressed just so the creators could focus on April which really irked me

I love the 2003, 2007, and 2012 versions of Karai. Except 2014-2016 film version of Karai, because she didn't fight that much. And besides she didn't became Leonardo's rival either. Because Michael Bay ruined her character development.

Hell I’m not even sure if she was Shredder’s daughter in these films. She could easily be replaced with another random ninja and nothing would change.

Obviously, imma have to go with 2012 Karai cuz she's simply the most developed and has the most backstory and lore. She had such an interesting history and dynamic with the turtles that shaped her into the way she is now

2012 Karai is without a doubt the best version. From changing her origins to being Splinter's daughter to her redemption and the twist of her becoming a mutant, this Karai has been given more depth then any version. Her relationship with Leo was great and her personality was a lot of fun. She is definingly the most tragic version and will be hard to succeed. I enjoyed the 2003 version of Karai all the same, but I eventually found her annoying. She talks about honor, but has seen repeatedly that Shredder had none and it became tiring of her constantly trying to defend him. I did like though that she knew that he was Utrom, but still loved him as a father. I know that contridects itself.

@@ahsokarules2369 no, the writers didn’t really do her well on her writing, which explains why she barely shows up in the show in around seasons 2, 3, and parts of 4. The writing is probably the most important structure for a character. Also how is Karai and Leo’s relationship great? They’re siblings which made the relationship less meaningful. Don’t forget they flirted which was worse

2012 Kirai. When she almost killed April O'Neal and hesitated when the former said she lost her mother, I knew she was gonna be something special as the series continued to flow. And that she was.

I’m split between either the 2003 version or the 2012 Version character wise but by far I liked her look beat in turtles forever!

I liked that 2012 took the jump to do something different with karai concerning her backstory and even giving her shinigami. 2003 karai was cool and I like how she was stuck in the middle between being an honorable figure and working for a ruthless person like shredder. However I got pissed that karai became the shredder even though she heard chrell crimes millions of people died due to him. That should've been the wake up call for her

Karai is the only TMNT character I can think of that any time they are introduced into a TV show, it's actually for the most part really well done and very interesting. I guess some people were bothered by the flip flopping of her character in TMNT 2003 and TMNT 2012 but I felt it made sense in those shows and how they were handled. Like her hatred for the turtles after what happened with Oroku Saki worked and I get them eventually forming an alliance and I also really liked her twist in Turtles Forever finally realizing "okay I can excuse a lot of dad's insanity but wanting to erase all of reality? Yeah that's a line too far" and finally turning against him. 2012's various twists usually had circumstnaces outside of Karai's control be it being taken over by the Shredder or being mutated that had her keep shifting but they did a good job establishing the character and honestly I think the flirtations between her and Leonardo worked since they were unsure of their actual connection and stopped that once they were. It would of worked seeing her have more time as a general ally but you still got enough of that especially in the last season for it to work. And Rise of the TMNT did that cool swerve where what people thought might be Karai turned out to be Casey Jones and then just having her as a hero spirit because we already saw her conflict in two variations of the other series why not do something different. However when I said Karai is the only TMNT character well done in a TV show I needed to follow that up with that comes with a caveat; that being "se's the only character I can think of any time they are introduced in a tv show it's actually for the most part really well done and very interesting... but any time they are introduced in a movie it sucksssssssssssssssss ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS". The only good TMNT Karai is in technically is Turtles Forever because that's based on the 2003 series but you know what that movie still does none of the other TMNT movies do with her? TELL US WHO THE HELL THIS CHARACTER IS AND HOW SHE RELATES TO THE REST OF THE CAST! Like karai coming in and telling 87 Shredder and Krang "I'm HIS (2003 Shredder's) daughter" though done for a joke is also done because the writers of Turtles Forever knew "hey I'm sure there will be people who come into this movie who know the other show but not this one so we should explain this really major character and what her deal is." Guess what the other movies don't ever EVER do? The Michael Bay produced movies she's pretty much just there as a villain who needs to be stopped who orders the foot around while the Shredder's not there but they don't built up her presence or character at all. Like the Bay movies aren't that great but I at least know who Shredder, Sachs, Krang, even Bebop and Rocksteady are from them. Even those who have terrible pointless endings like Baxter Stockman still have... A character. The Karais in there just don't and that's even true of the 2007 movie despite her seeming to have more time and there not even being a Shredder around. They still don't introduce who she is or what her deal is and... that's kind of an important character so failing that so hard is noticable. Really I don't know why they bother using Karai if they have nothing for her to do; eye candy? fan service? You're not doing even that good guys and people want her around because of her character as shown in the series she's in so... yeah more of that less of the movies stuff.

Those were back in the days when Karai was mid 30s to early 40s & was higher ranked than Shredder in the Foot clan. For some reason during the 2003 TMNT, they turned her into a young adult & she's stayed that way in every other version of TMNT after 2k3. Although 2003 Karai looks like a younger Mirage Karai which is the same girl they used in the Sega & SNES TMNT fighting games.

IDW beats all of them imo. She had the best reason for working for Shredder, most balance, and has the best relationship with the Turtles while not overly friendly but not psychopathic like Shredder was.

2003, 07, &12 are my favorite adaptations of Karai.

TMNT Karai tops this for me by a long shot. As far as a NINJA, she is a real depiction. Ninjas are mercenaries for higher with a code. She lived by that and even forged an alliance with the turtles to hold to that honor. Zang Ziyi was SUCH an amazing Japanese accent in her second English role. Also, her design was also closest to a ninja as well. If that were a series, I could easily see it surpassing the 2003 one. The ONLY thing I didn’t like about this Karai was the fact that April O’Neil actually got a hit off her! Next is the 2003 Karai. Her character development was nice and all but her becoming The Shredder was SUCH a great callback to the comics. But if this weren’t a series, it wouldn’t be as powerful. Technically, she should be number one, but I just love the TMNT design and VOICE better. I actually don’t like Karai from Nick. First, inter species relationships are sickening to me so, I don’t like Nick for doing that with April and Donnie or Karai and Leo. Also, incest is also disgusting, whether you are adopted or not. It just doesn’t send a good message to children with me. I get that they aren’t related by blood or even raised together, but the fact remains that they ARE brother and sister and I’m not sure if kids can understand the complications of that situation. Also, her design looks more like a punk style ninja than a real one. Kelly Hu did a phenomenal job and all, but she didn’t have an accent. None of the voices in Nickelodeon’s turtles can compare to TMNT really. The other two Karai’s...do not exist! Subbed

It's because the movie Karais (I mean 2014 and 2016) had ZERO character development. That's why they're so hated. And I really can't blame the fans for not liking these versions.

I was surprised when I heard the 2012 Karai talk because I wasn't expecting her to sound more Americanized. I also like how they included her character in the 2014 film. That was just so cool to see.

2012 Karai is my favorite, the only thing I wish happened was if she was more involved with the aftermath Splinter’s death and the stuff before it about revenge and her wanting to murder Shredder. Her and Leo didn’t need to be a romantic pairing (and they really weren’t the writers just threw in like 2-3 scenes of them flirting for some reason), but they could have bonded over his death, since we really didn’t see much of Karai after it

My favorite karai is 2012

Let's be real, any human being a "love interest" to the TMNT is "weird" (considering they're completely different species). "Nick" Karai being the TMNT "older" adoptive sister & her & Leo having "a thing" is only kinda "weird" because of the whole "bestiality'" angle. 1st off, they're not related, but more importantly, they only met as adults & were never raised around each other (heck, Splinter even thought she was dead, as an infant). But the only thing that really made her interesting was her connection to the TMNT via Splinter. But I agree, "2003" Karai is also my fav., if they had shown more of her backstory, she'd be an even better character. I wish they kept Karai's appearance consistent throughout all her integrations. "2007 Movie" Karai was the best looking, so that should've been her design the entire time (if not 2003 Karai who was also pretty).

Well, the different species thing only matters in terms of consent. They are anthropomorphic meaning they have human-level minds, and similar human proportions and body types. The keynote there is that they are at the same level of thinking and social organization that humans are, allowing them to form bonds and relationships on equal footing. Why Beastiality is wrong to begin with is because it would be non-consensual, but given their anthropomorphic that wouldn't be an issue. Now of course I can understand the weird vibe it would give off.

The 2003 version looks like she copied Liu Kang’s hairstyle as well as his red headband, but has the same conflicting personality as Kitana. Yet in season four cold and vengefully ruthless like Mileena.

For me it will always be the Mirage comic version. But I also like the 2003 and 2012 cartoon versions.

2012 TMNT Yes Karai are the turtles sister but not biologically since an episode explains how the turtles were adopted and reborn by the mutagen into half human without specific blood connection..hope this helps
