Pity this won't count for a season's best because this is not an official ISU event. 228 would be the top women's score with a bit of room too. good luck at worlds, Kaori!

It could very well be! It did affect world standings to my knowledge but these scores can't be counted as SBs or PBs for some reason... I guess it's one of the many things that don't make sense about the ISU

Does she pick at all on her lutz and flip? Or just all edge jumps?

of course she picks?? They just aren't massively pre-rotated like so many other people, so she's in the air quickly.

@@eljj7968 I concur. The faster one gets into the air, the more likely one picks. Pre rotation is a result of using the picking leg like a pivot, which means more time on that foot. More time equals more strain, so the body would of course compensate by using more of the foot. Kaori is a great example of someone who uses the picking foot as a lever to get into the air, rather than to get rotations (in which case the foot picking turns into a pivot, and likely a full blade affair). I love watching her flips for this reason. She has some of the best flips.

こんなに素晴らしい演技だっただけに フィギュアスケート大人気の日本と違って観客の少なさにさみしい気持ちになった アメリカやヨーロッパでも以前のようなフィギュアスケート人気が戻って欲しいな
